Obituary of Olga Lachmanec
Lachmanec, Olga - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Friday, November 5, 2010. Olga was born in the Whitesand District to Nick and Mary Lachmanec. She attended Beblo Elementary School, Springside High School, and graduated Grade 12 from Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton, Sask. She continued her education at Normal School in both Moose Jaw and Saskatoon and received her Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. Olga taught at various schools in Saskatchewan, in Alberta, and in Germany before settling in Red Deer, Alberta. She loved and excelled at her career choice and was the proud recipient of the Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award. Olga travelled extensively to various European and other overseas locations. Although she missed her teaching, she enjoyed her retirement. She was active in her parish, the St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church. She looked forward to her golfing and bridge games. The special bridge ladies were a joy to her and the golfing "gals" provided many hours of entertainment. Olga was predeceased by her parents and her sisters, Kay Panchuk and Ann Neudorf. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her sisters and brothers: Pauline Spelay, Yorkton; Donna Glute, Toronto; Margaret Raina, Saskatoon; John, Sudbury; Mike, Yorkton; Daniel (Vicki), Calgary; Joe, Springside; Lillian, Cecile and Elizabeth, Saskatoon; Irene (Peter) Kobylka, Yorkton; Adel (Paul) Kovacs, Los Angeles; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Prayers were held on Monday, November 8th and the Requiem Divine Liturgy on Tuesday, November 9th from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton, Sask. with the Very Reverend Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. Responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and parish choir members. The cross bearer was Dr. Kathryn Coben and the epistle reader was Leanne Mohr. A violin tribute was played by Peter Kobylka. Interment followed at the Yorkton City Cemetery with Michael Spelay, Dennis Spelay, Brian Kobylka, Layton Kobylka, Joel Panchuk and Mike Kracher serving as casket bearers. A eulogy by Vicky Tildsley was presented at the funeral reception. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Vichnaya Pamyat! Eternal Memory! Service Information
