RENKAS - Mr. Casey Renkas of Ituna, beloved husband of Eleanor Renkas passed away February 11, 2011 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 61 years of age. Kazmar Joseph Renkas was born on September 6th, 1949 on the family farm in the Ituna/Hubbard District. He was the middle of nine children born to Joe and Tillie Renkas (nee Shubaly). Casey attended school in Hubbard and Ituna before starting his career with Sask Wheat Pool for 34 years. After retiring from Sask Wheat Pool he continued to work part time for Saskatchewan Municipal Hail and Crop Insurance. He married Eleanor Federko on November 18, 1972. Together they had two children; Cara and David. David and his wife Gail gave Casey and Eleanor two grandchildren; Amber (4) and Shawn (1). Casey touched thousands of people, more than he will ever know. His commitment to his family, friends, co- workers, customers and community will leave a lasting memory in everyone's hearts. Casey was one of the most respected grain buyers in this area. His clients respected his professionalism and fairness; forming many friendships. The community not only lost a friend, they lost one of its most active volunteers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, including two terms as Grand Knight. Casey took great pride in the regional park and the local golf course, volunteering countless hours to ensure that everything was maintained for the enjoyment of others. One of his proudest accomplishments was transforming the ball diamonds to host a first class fastball tournament at Ituna's Centennial celebration. Most recently, Casey was elected to the Ituna town council keeping with his community commitment. On one occasion this past summer when Casey was working out of town, he drove 4 hours one way to attend a council meeting, only to turn around and drive back for work the next morning. Casey loved sports and was a gifted athlete. While in high school he quarterbacked the Ituna Trojan football team. He played on the local senior hockey team. He was always one of the leading scorers in the league, winning the league scoring race on more than one occasion. He became an avid and skilled golfer and shared his love for the game with others. Many people played their first round with Casey and because of the positive experience they had they continued to enjoy the game themselves. As busy as Casey was his number one priority was his family. He was a great brother, son, and especially a wonderful husband to Eleanor, a devoted father to Cara and David and a very proud Gigi to Amber and Shawn. He loved to entertain his grandchildren and already had Amber practicing her golf swing and driving the golf cart. He was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1988 and will be sadly missed by his wife Eleanor, daughter Cara, son David (Gail), grandchildren Amber and Shawn, mother Tillie, five brothers: Lawrence (Fran), Leonard, Ronald (Staffa), Larry (Jodi), Cameron (Linda), three sisters: Valerie (Lorne) Lewko, Louise (Clint) Molesky, Colleen (Con) Gherasim, sisters-in-laws: Carol (Gary) Graham, Iris (Garry) Krushelnicki, Fran Thompson, Maryann Federko, brother-in-law Melvin Federko, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
