It is with heavy hearts that we sadly announce the sudden passing of our Dad Mike Byski. On the morning of Friday, February 18th, 2011 Dad suffered a heart attack at the Yorkton Union Hospital, and passed into arms of the Lord at the age of 78. Dad was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven and walked into the arms of his beloved wife Elsie and his parents Tom and Mary Byski. Michael William Byski was born on the family farm on January 14th, 1933. Growing up as a young boy in the Hubbard area Dad attended the Late Star School while working with his father Tom on the family farm. When he finished school he continued to work the farm until he ventured out on his own in the late 1950's. As a young man on his own Dad began a working man's career walking down a few different paths. Dad worked on a CN Rail road gang, finished hardwood floors in Winnipeg and worked at Crown Steel in Regina until he returned to the farm in the late 1960's. While farming he took up room and board in Yorkton and started work in 1972 at Leon's Manufacturing. Dad enjoyed his work at Leon's but the smoke started to bother him and he started taking an upgrading course to get his Stationary Fireman's Certificate to pursue a different career. In 1982 Dad starting working at the Yorkton Regional High School until he retired in 1997. Dad met his Soul Mate Elsie Gorelitza at a dance in 1973 at the Yorkton Pythian Hall. Dad fell in love with Mom's smile and they started dating a week later enjoying many fun filled evenings dancing at the Legion Hall. On July 27th, 1974 Michael William Byski and Elsie Bella Gorelitza were joined in Holy Matrimony at the Westview United Church with Reverend Jack Jones presiding. Mike not only became a husband but also became a father by accepting 5 young children into his life. Dad was a helping hand to all who needed him, always thinking of others and doing the many things that needed to be done expecting nothing in return. Dad was a man of many words, he was a storyteller at heart most of his stories started with "Did I ever tell you?". Well most of the time he already told you the story but you would always listen to it again anyway. He always liked building and tinkering with "stuff" in the garage, going to auction sales, working with mom in the garden and he liked walking, lots of walking. Dad was a gentle man with family and friends being the most important part of his life. Dad leaves to celebrate and cherish his memory - his 3 daughters Grace Gorelitza and Adeline Gorelitza of Saskatoon, SK. and Valerie (Don) Nerbas of Yorkton, SK; his two sons Eric Gorelitza of Regina, SK and Rick (Bonnie) Gorelitza of Martensville, SK. Dad will miss his eight grandchildren, Lindsay and Crystal daughters of Adeline, Terra (Ryan) Deck, Cassandra and Brady Nerbas children of Valerie and Don, Breckan Gorelitza son of Eric, Ethaniel and Elan Gorelitza children of Rick and Bonnie. Dad also had eight great grandchildren Kennedy, Kolby and Kayden Arcand daughters of Lindsay and Cory Arcand, Emily Ann and Haley daughter's of Terra (Ryan) Deck and Dylan, Tristen and Mason children of Crystal and Chuck Ellis. Dad leaves his younger sister Anne (Willie) Kozey and brother's Ted Byski (Adeline) of Yorkton and Don (Emily) Byski of Goodeve as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends.
