Obituary of Samantha Lewthwaite
Samantha “Sam” Louise Lewthwaite passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 22 years. She leaves to mourn her death and cherish her memory, her parents; Bradley and Teresa (nee Meheden) Lewthwaite; sister Jessica (Chase) Caldwell; Grandparents Robert Lewthwaite, John and Sharon Meheden and many aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and friends. Samantha is pre-deceased by her grandmother Royal (King) Lewthwaite.
Sam was born on December 16, 1999 in Yorkton, SK. When she was only 6 months old the family moved to Regina where Sam attended play school and kindergarten; also, where at three years of age Sam learned to skate. As a young girl, Sam’s strong, independent personality was already shining through, and she was always happy.
When Samantha was five years old the family found their way back to Yorkton where they would settle in and call home. Sam attended Columbia School from first to eighth grade. It was during these years that Sam enjoyed many activities including figure skating, archery, basketball, volleyball, bowling, band, badminton and curling. Sam wasn’t very competitive but loved the social aspect of every sport. Sam completed her schooling at the Yorkton Regional High School where she loved making new friends, and was always sure to make an appearance at any school function or social gathering.
When she was 16 years of age, Sam started her first job working at the Dairy Queen, which was the perfect place for her because she loved chocolate and ice cream! Once she graduated from Highschool Sam moved to Moose Jaw where she attended one year of business school at Saskatchewan Polytech. Her family was so proud of her independence and maturity because she lived on her own three hours away from home. Of course, she came home on weekends, with her laundry, to be with friends and family.
Once she returned home from Moose Jaw, Sam was determined to find a job. In May 2019 she started working at the Cornerstone Credit Union as an MSR (teller) and soon moved to her position at reception where she shined. Sam was very passionate about her work, and loved her work family. It was often mentioned that people loved to be greeted by her bright smile and cheerful personality.
Throughout her life, one of the things Sam loved the most, was the time she could spend with friends. She was often the life of the party, and even though she was the smallest, she was definitely the loudest.
We will all miss her bubbly personality, strong will, beautiful smile and fierce confidence that so many people admired. In the short time Sam was here she made a huge impact upon so many people that crossed her path. She would want others to live as she did – live for today and do not always have a plan.
“Sam is Sam” – something that was always said by her loved ones. And, Sam will remain the bright and shining daughter, sister, grand-daughter, niece, cousin, colleague and friend she has been to us and this world. Service Details.
