FEDOROWICH - Mrs. Rose Fedorowich of Yorkton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Yorkton Regional Health Center. She was 93 years of age. Rose was born on October 19, 1917 at Wroxton, daughter of Peter & Katherine (Dwernichuk) Onofreychuk. Rose was raised and attended school in Calder. She moved to Yorkton and worked as a nanny for several families. In 1939, Rose worked at the Red and Palace Café, where she met the love of her life, Frank Fedorowich. Mom excelled in home cooking, baking and preserving the vegetables and fruit that Frank grew in their gardens. Her grandchildren reaped the rewards of her baking and cooking when they attended high school. Grandma would often invite them to come for dinner, especially when fresh borscht was on the menu. As a special treat Grandma would give them a "doggy bag" filled with her famous apple dumplings and donuts. Rose was a devoted member of St. Mary's Church and belonged to the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League for many years, and was recently honored as a 90+ year old member. Rose was also a member of St. Mary's choir. In 1950, Frank and Rose built their own home where they resided until 2003, when they moved to the Bentley. Rose continued to live at the Bentley until her time of passing.
