Obituary of Rupert Bromley

Rupert Bromley, known to all as Bob, was born on November 1, 1923 at Ashton Under lyne, England. He was raised and received his education there. As a young man he enlisted into the Royal Air Force, and following flight training with the Lancaster Bomber, saw action on numerous occasions during World War II. Following the war, Bob returned to civilian life as a social worker. In 1965 the family immigrated to Canada, and to Saskatchewan, settling first in Regina for a short time before moving to make their home in Yorkton. Bob was employed with the Provincial Government, working at various departments with the Ministry of Social Services, and later as a manager with the Department of Justice, retiring in 1984. On October 17, 1980 Bob was united in marriage to Georgina MacKay. Bob & Georgina returned on numerous occasions to England, as Bob never lost his passion for flying and for England. The couple also enjoyed numerous holidays to Hawaii. In 2009, Bob & Georgina moved to St. Albert, Alberta to be closer to family, and have since resided there. Bob passed away at his home in St. Albert on Friday, October 14th, 2011. He was 87 years of age. During his many years in Yorkton, Bob was a member of the Yorkton Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, General Alexander Ross Branch #77. Predeceased by two brothers, Bernard & Reg. He leaves to miss his presence, his wife Georgina; his daughter Nicola in Nova Scotia, and his son Robert in Esterhazy; his step-family: Glenda & Ken, Debbie & Daryl, Kathy & Kirby, Geri & Craig, and Lori & Bob; 26 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Dorothy (John) Bates of Australia, and Wendy (Bud) Lumsden of Florida; and their families; and a special friend to the family, Kevin Pollock.
