Obituary of Daniel Byski
BYSKI - Daniel Byski of the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre entered his eternal rest at 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre. He was 88 years of age. Daniel was born on July 17, 1923 at Abernethy, Saskatchewan to the late Petro and Olena Byski. Daniel spent his childhood years on the farm where they lived. Daniel started his education at Heather School up to the time when the family bought a farm southwest of Goodeve in 1935. Daniel farmed with his brother Andrew and sister Mary until 1998 when they sold the farm and moved into the village of Goodeve. From the time even before the new church was built Daniel was a devoted member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Goodeve. Predeceased by his father Petro in 1965 and his mother Olena in 1975 and brother Andrew in 2007. Daniel leaves to mourn his passing his sister Mary of Ituna; as well as many cousins and friends. Prayer Services were held on Sunday, December 11, 2011at 7:30 p.m. from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Goodeve. A Funeral Service was held on Monday, December 12, 2011at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko Officiating. The Cantor William Kozey with members of the church choir led in the responses. The crossbearer was Gerald Klus, bannerbearers were Dennis Soltys and Philip Soltys, Irvin Wersta was the Elder. The bell rings were Daniel Dumalski and Rod Stecyk. Honorary bearers were everyone in attendance. The interment followed in the Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery with Ted Prymak, David Kish, Andrew Rahn, Erwin Heuchert, Brian Byski and Donald Byski as the casketbearers. Arrangements were by Bailey's Funeral Home, Melville.
