Obituary of Mary Bohach

BOHACH - Mary Bohach of Ituna, Saskatchewan entered her eternal rest on Friday, January 13, 2012 at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon after a courageous battle with cancer with her family at her side. She was 79 years of age. Mary was born on July 27, 1932 in the Churchill district of Saskatchewan, a daughter of Anthony and Mary (nee Spilchuk) Charanduk. She was raised on the family farm and attended Churchill School. Mary moved to Ituna with her parents and continued her education at St. Anne's Orphanage and later at Balfour Tech in Regina. In grade ten she quit school to come home and look after her mother who suffered from a stroke. Mary started her employment at Sametz's Drug Store for a short while then in 1950 she began employment at the Ituna Union Hospital. On August 1, 1954 Mary was united in marriage to Bernie Bohach at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Mary quit work at the hospital and moved to the farm where they started their family. Eventually she moved back to Ituna and once again she started working at the Ituna Hospital until her retirement in 1993. Mary was a very compassionate, loving and caring lady. As a godchild RoseMarie Forsberg would say she was the best godmother in the whole wide world, never forgetting a birthday. Predeceased by her mother Mary; father Anthony; husband Bernie in 1990; sisters, Anne Olynyk, Sophie Moody, Olga Matlock, Stella Charanduk and Catherine Charanduk; brothers, John, Tony, Bill, Harry, Alex, Nestor and Isadore. Mary leaves to cherish her memory her son, Barry of Saskatoon and daughter, Yvonne of Saskatoon; her special little companion, "Bailey"; Sister Noel and Sister Adrianne of Mundare and brother Benny Charanduk of Burlington. Mary will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Prayer services were held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Rev. Fr. Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The Epistle Reader was Maryann Kitz - Golemba. Crossbearer was Andrea Charanduk and the altar server was Tyson Lekach-Ogrodnick. Honorary bearers were everyone who knew and loved Mary. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with Barry Bohach, Yvonne Bohach, Andy Charanduk, Connie Charanduk, Anthony Charanduk and Cory Charanduk as the casket bearers.
