URBANOSKI - Mr. Joseph Urbanoski of Providence Place in Moose Jaw, formerly of Yorkton, husband of the late Mrs. Joyce Urbanoski passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. He was eighty-one years of age. Joseph Richard Urbanoski was born on September 19, 1930 to Joseph and Nellie (nee Bogutski) Urbanoski at the Yorkton Hospital. He grew up on the family farm in the Willowbrook district and attended Silver Willow School. He helped on the farm until June 4, 1952 when he was united in marriage to Joyce Meays. They lived in Fitzmaurice, Saskatchewan for three years where Joseph bought and sold grain. While living there their first daughter Charlene was born, also in the Yorkton Hospital. They moved to Regina where Joseph worked for Olynk Construction. It was in Regina that Foster, Wendy and Gary were born. In 1968 they moved to Humboldt where Joseph was the Town Foreman. Jody was born in 1969. In 1979 the family moved to La Ronge where Joseph was in charge of the Water Treatment Plant. They only lived there for eleven months when Joseph got a job at Tisdale, Saskatchewan as Town Foreman. Joseph was very involved with the Saskatchewan Public Works Association for many years, as a Board Member, Vice President and President. He loved being a part of this association and was very good at it. He continued his involvement with the association for many years after his retirement. Joseph was also a participant for a number of years with C.O.P.P. the Citizens On Patrol Program in Yorkton and the EMO team in Tisdale. He loved reading his western novels. He had an amazing love for animals. Joseph also loved gardening with Joyce and they both loved their flowers. Every spot around their house was filled with flowers. In 1999 Joseph retired and he and Joyce moved to Yorkton. Joe will be remembered for how his eyes lit up when he smiled. He would always tell his children to "treat people the way you would like to be treated". He will forever and always be in our hearts. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Joyce; his son, Jody; one sister Lorraine and one brother Adolph. He leaves to celebrate his life four children, Charlene (Jim) Lind, Foster (Judy Graham) Urbanoski, Wendy Urbanoski and Gary Urbanoski; three grandsons and four great grandchildren: grandson, Shawn Lind and his two children Jade & Kaden; grandson, Joshua (Aletha) Lind and their two children Brayden and Lucas; and grandson, Matthew Lind (Shannon MacMillan); his brother, Lorne (Leona) Urbanoski as well as numerous relatives and family friends. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre in Yorkton with Rev. Milo Spooner Craig of St. Andrew's United Church in Yorkton officiating. A special musical selection ‘When I See You Again' by Emerson Drive was played. Joanne Coldwell read a poem on behalf of the family. Grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Lind served as urn bearers. Interment followed in the family plot in the Garden of St. John at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens. Memorials in memory of Joseph may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan as gifts of remembrance.
