Obituary of Robert Horvath

HORVATH - Robert (Bob) Horvath of Westview Manor entered his eternal rest on January 27, 2012. He was 86 years of age. Bobwas born on January 25 1926 in the Waldron district of Saskatchewan, The only child born to Alexander and Theresa (nee Varga) Horvath. Bob received his education at Good Hope School. In his early years he learned to play guitar and learned what was needed to become a good farmer. Bob helped his parents on the family farm. He raised livestock and pigs and treated all his animals with the utmost respect, even made some his pets. Bob had a special ability to fabricate many different things from metal or wood scraps to serve a purpose either for the farm or himself. He eventually took over the family farm and later married Ellen Vigfusson in 1975. They continued farming for 4 years then moved into Melville. While in Melville they continued to raise the children and meet all of lives challenges. After the children were all gone, they retired and enjoyed travelling, fishing, camping, and spending time with the grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and a member of the Co-op. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and cars and doing woodworking in his spare time. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and visiting the mineral spa at Manitou. Bob had many friends that would visit and they would have coffee and reminisce about old times. Bob was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked. In life Bob has mourned the death of his parents Alexander and Theresa, his loving wife Ellen, and his stepdaughter Katherine Webster. Bob leaves to celebrate his life his stepchildren: David (Donna) Stewardson of Weyburn, Sask., Donna (Dan) Ahern of Indianapolis, Indiana, Cliff (Remi) of Calgary, Alberta, Frank Melanson of Melville, Sask., Deb (Darwin) Mickleborough of Ladysmith, B.C. 13 Grandchildren, 17 Great grandchildren.
