Obituary of Mike Bryck
BRYCK - Mr. Mike Bryck of Ituna, beloved husband of Lola Bryck entered eternal rest on February 18, 2012 at Ituna Pioneer Health Care. He was 89 years of age. Mike was born on June 5, 1922 on a farm in the Hubbard district to Teresa (Tyminski) and Steve Bryck. Mike attended school at File Hills, south of Ituna and St. Anne's in Ituna. Following school, he worked for his uncle, Alec at the Livery Stable in Ituna. After the time at the stable, he worked as a farm hand for a few years which led him to his life partner of 66 years. Mike was united in marriage to Lola Shach at the Sacred Heart Church in Ituna. They were blessed with four children. Lola and Mike made their home on the farm four miles south of Hubbard until their retirement to Ituna in 1988. Mike was a member and served as president of the Holy Cross Parish (Hubbard), member of the Sacred Heart Parish and of the Hubbard Golden Age Club, Ituna Social Club, and the Sunshine Manor Friendship club. In the agricultural area Mike supported The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and the National Farmer's Union. Mike was a true family man. His children were important to him and he ensured they followed the right path in life, emphazing the importance of work, responsibility and helping others in time of need. As a parent and a father, Mike assisted his children in many ways, offering guidance and financial support. Grandchildren provided a break from the pressures of raising a family. The grandchildren gave their grandpa Mike endless hours of enjoyment where he could introduce them to his loves: the love of the land by being his tractor buddies, construction (building elaborate forts) and design in his sewing skills (doll clothing). These skills will be treasured by a future generation. Livestock and the land remained Mike's passion throughout his life's journey. His energy and optimism in his work were evident throughout a successful farming career. Any projects on the go would have Mike innovating and improvising to make the job easier. Mike was dedicated to his friends, neighbours and community, always willing to lend a hand and accept help in return. Mike's dream of the farm continuing to operate was fulfilled as Larry; the middle of three children took over from Mom and Dad. Like so many of his generation, and reflective of the hard and difficult times, Mike was unable to complete his education. While he was unable to fulfill his dreams of pursuing an education, he worked hard and made many sacrifices to ensure all three of his children were able to attend and complete their university endevours graduating in the fields of education, agriculture and social sciences. In the later times of his life, Mike fought and won a major battle after having been treated for cancer. As throughout his life, he did not let the cancer deter him from living his life to the fullest. Even in retirement, Mike still helped with farming and always made time to attend auction sales, sometimes bringing home some rather interesting and unique items. Mike was predeceased by his parents Steve Bryck (1930) Teresa) Tyminski (1997), son Allan (1954) grandson Avin (2004). Mike leaves to cherish his memory, wife Lola, son Murray (Deborah) of Vancouver - Cherish (Andrew Wilczynski) [Annie and Lila]. Larry (Gayle) of Hubbard - Aimee (Paul Gullacher), [Willem]-Tyler. Donna (Kevin Beach) of Ernfold. - Abbie and Alishia.
