Obituary of Alex Allary

ALLARY - It is with heavy hearts the family of Alex Allary announce his passing peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at St. Peters Hospital in Melville, Saskatchewan. Alex Allary was born June 1st, 1923 at his parents' home in the Cresent Lake district near Yorkton, Saskatchewan. September 12, 1950 Alex was united in marriage to Bertha Paul, for sixty one wonderful years or till death do us part, together they raised seven children and were blessed with twenty six grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren. They made their home in Crescent Lake and moved the home that he built to Dubuc and later years for retirement moved to Theodore, Saskatchewan. He loved travelling the chuckwagon circuit, winning and losing races, buying and selling horses. Upon retirement of chuck wagon and chariot racing, his interest in this sport remained strong as he watched his son George carry on his legacy. Music was another great love of Alex, playing the guitar, singing country songs and in his later years playing the fiddle for dances in Regina and Yorkton. Fishing was always a part of his life and in his later years became a pastime with many hours spent fishing with his wife on the shores of Whitesand River. He made many friends at Whitesand Regional Park and always was able to strike up a conversation with whoever may have come to fish. Visits from his grandchildren were a highlight to him. His sense of humour was appreciated by all, leaving them with the fondest of memories. Many hours were spent with Vince and Zonia Churko playing their favourite game of marbles. Alex was a man of many different trades and worked hard to support his family, but took special pride in his position at the Esterhazy potash mine. Alex leaves to mourn his wife Bertha of sixty one years; his seven children: four sons, Fred, George (Marie), Fernny (Cathy), Evan (Caron); three daughters, Yvette Frank (Ken), Yvonne Rusnak (Brian) and Betty Einarson (Todd). Twenty four grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Shingoose, Mary Jane Brazeau, and Bernice Selsted. He is predeceased by his parents, Fred & Philomene (nee Pelletier) Allary; two brothers, Isadore and William and three sisters: Celina, Edna and Yvonne, two grandchildren: Tascha and Glenn Rusnak and a great grandson Mason Shore. A prayer vigil was held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Frances Hengen presiding. Grandson, Shayne Allary served as crossbearer. Daughter, Yvette gave the reading and sons, Fred and George gave a remembrance. Peter Kobylka performed a violin solo ‘Amazing Grace'. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, February 27, 2012 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Father Frances Hengen as the Celebrant. The readers were children, Evan Allary and Yvette Frank. Giftbearers were grandchildren, Dallas Rusnak, Michael Einarson and Sean Allary. Honorary Bearers were Dr. Benny Eshawesh, Vince and Zonia Churko, Mike & Elsie Banga and Lyn Brazeau Fast. Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with as Alex wished his seven children Fred, George, Yvette, Yvonne, Betty, Fernny and Evan serving as casketbearers. A reception followed in St. Gerard's Parish Complex with tributes and words of remembrance given by sons, Fred and George, nephews, John Melenchuk and Harvey Pelletier. Daughter, Betty shared words of appreciation on behalf of the family. Memorials in memory of Alex may be made to the Whitesand Regional Park as gifts of remembrance.
