Obituary of Anne Senkowski

Mrs. Anne Senkowski of the Ituna and District Pioneer Lodge entered eternal rest at her residence on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 92 years. Anne was born November 1, 1919 in the Beckenham area north of Ituna. She was one of ten children born to Alex and Justina (Yurchyshyn) Rodych. She briefly moved to Winnipeg where she was employed at a garment factory. She then returned home uniting in marriage to Russell Senkowski on October 27, 1946. They bought land in the Lunville district in 1949 and farmed at this location for 40 years. In 1991 they retired and moved to Ituna. Following the death of Russell in 2003, Anne continued to reside in her home until she became a resident of the Ituna Pioneer Lodge. She remained there until her passing on Friday February 24, 2012 at the age of 92 years. An important part of her everyday life was her strong faith and devotion to God. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in the Lunville district and later an active member of the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. She was a member of the UCWLC and was awarded a certificate of merit for long service and dedication to the organization. Some of Anne's hobbies included, sewing, knitting, braiding rugs, playing Bingo and growing a large vegetable and flower garden. She also enjoyed a good game of cards (three spot) with family and friends. Anne's family was very important to her, and each member felt her love and acceptance. Anyone that visited the Senkowski household never left hungry or thirsty. Anne leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life three children. Son Orest (Angie) of Saskatoon, their sons Darren (Eve) from Red Deer, Kevin (Wendy) and their son Tanner from Winnipeg. Son Morris (Marcella) and their children Drayton (Erin), Durant (Jenn) their son Jack from Thompson. Arlynne (Colby) their son Reid from Rock Glen. Daughter Loriann (Bob) Brown their children Jarred and Lyndsay from Saskatoon. Brothers Bill (Eva), Paul (Marge) sisters Pauline Dorosh, Gladys (Peter) Byblow;l sister-in-law Alice Rodych, Brother-in-law Bill (Sophie) Senkowski along with numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. The Prayer service was held on Wednesday evening, February 29, 2012 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church Ituna, Sask., with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. officiating with the Praying of the Rosary led by members of the UCWLC preceeding. Larry Tymiak was the Sacristan with Wayne Boczulak and Ladmer Moskal singing the responses. Thet Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday morning March 1, 2012 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. The responses to the Liturgy were sung by Ladmer Moskal and Heidi Spilchuk with Loriann Brown reading the Epistle. Ernie Spilchuk was the Sacristan with Lyndsay Brown serving as Cross Bearer. The UCWLC were named as Honourary Bearers with Jane Chorney carrying the UCWLC Prapor. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery with: Darren, Durant, Arlynne, Kevin, Drayton Senkowski and Jarred Brown serving as Casket Bearers. At the Memorial Luncheon reflections of Anne's life were given by her son Orest, daughter Loriann and on behalf of the grandchildren: Jarred Brown and Lyndsay Brown.
