Obituary of Ann Hansen
HANSEN -. Ann Hansen of Ituna Pioneer Lodge, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the age of 89 at St. Peters Hospital, Melville, Saskatchewan. Ann was born on April 12, 1923 on the family farm by Leross to Joseph and Gizelle (Grace) Horvath; Ann was their fifth child. She attended Leross School till grade 11. While working in Duval she met and married Melvin Hansen. They farmed there, then moved by Ituna and later to the Johnson district by Kelliher. The couple were blessed with seven children. Ann and her family moved to Kelliher in 1961 where her life flourished. She began employment at the Co-op and worked there for twenty-two years. Ann was a hockey, figure skating, curling, and 4-H mom and leader. She enjoyed square dancing and curled well into her senior years. She was a dedicated Legion and United Church member. She sang in the church and senior choirs, attended coffee row and the senior club. She travelled from British Columbia to the Maritimes, Alaska and various places in the United States, especially Phoenix, Arizona, to see family. She attended most family functions even after she became a resident of Ituna Pioneer Lodge in 2007. Ann leaves to cherish her memory her children, Bev Thompson, Terry (Marlene) Moise - Hansen, Amber (Walter) Boyarski, Maureen (Don) Karakachuk, Gail (Alf) Kolodniski and Neil (Delaine) Hansen; daughters-in-law, Cory Hansen, Gail Petras and Gloria Reeve; 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Molter (Peter), Helen Frey (Larry), Margaret Schmale, Louis (Alma) Horvath and George (Evelyn) Horvath; nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Pearl Anderson (Hansen) and the Mytroen nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her son, Brian; sisters, Marie Rieber and Julie Clark; numerous in-laws; and Melvin, father of Ann's children. Ann will be remembered always by her family and friends Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Vladimir's Catholic Church in Kelliher with Rev. Brian Mee officiating. The organist, Lenore Fincati with members of the church choir led in the singing of the hymns, "Nearer My God to Thee", "Those Hearts that We Have Treasured" and "How Great Thou Art" "Just A Closer Walk with Thee". Honorary bearers were everyone who knew and loved Ann. The interment followed in the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Jeff Thompson, Sheldon Boyarski, Jonah Kolodniski, Shane Hansen, Kyle Boyarski and Kelln Nordquist serving as the casket bearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home, Ituna, Yorkton. Service Information
