Obituary of Phyllis Langley
LANGLEY - Mrs. Phyllis Langley of Yorkton passed away peacefully with her family at her side on November 10, 2012 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 79 years of age. Phyllis was born on June 29, 1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the daughter of Albert and Mabel Jeanroy. She was raised in the Springside area. On May 21, 1955 Phyllis was united in marriage to Gordon Langley. They were blessed with six wonderful children. Phyllis was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and an active member of the Catholic Women's League. She was also a member of the choir and served as sacristan for many years at St. Gerard's Church. Phyllis devoted 30 years of her life caring for others as a nurse's aide at the Yorkton Union Hospital. The rest of the time was spent with her family. She cherished the many friends she made throughout the years. Besides comforting others, she enjoyed volunteering, coffee outings and bingo with Jim. She was a true kid at heart, enjoying cartoons and collecting many teddy bears. For the last five years she enjoyed the company of her companion Jim Wrigley. Predeceased by her husband Gordon, parents Albert and Mabel, her daughter Sherry Kominetsky and brother Victor Jeanroy. Left to cherish her memory is her dearest companion Jim Wrigley; her children Al (Val) Langley of Springside, Debbie of Innisfail, AB, Audrey (Lars) Hansen of Lloydminster, SK, Donna (Glen) Spilak of Yorkton, Jeff Langley of Yorkton; her son-in-law John Kominetsky of Yorkton. Also 13 grandchildren Robyn (Jason), Dallas, Kelly (Jesse), Jason, Jeremy (Heather), Devon, Ashley, Kristy (Dexter), Johnathon (Denise), Lars, Gordie, Lacey (Kent), Scott; 2 great grandchildren Kasey and Casey and a sister-in-law Leona Shillington of Moose Jaw. The prayer service was held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church, Yorkton. The Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, November 15th at St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father Francis Hengen as the Celebrant. The readings were given by Al Langley, Dolores Spreitzer and Mary Bybliw. The pianist, Lorraine Lysak led the church choir in the singing of the hymns, "Here I am Lord", "Psalm 23", "Jesus Remember Me", "Blest Are They", "Song of the Angels" and "Peace is Flowing Like a River". Serving as cross bearer was Jeff Langley. "Everyone who shared in Phyllis' life" were considered honourary pallbearers. The interment followed in the family plot at Springside Town Cemetery with Kent Koroluk, Trent Shillington, Glen Spilak, Gary Langley, Scott Spilak and David Langley serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Phyllis may be made to St. Gerard's Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
