Obituary of Lucy Feshak
FESHAK - Mrs. Lucy Feshak of Yorkton passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, as a result of cancer. She was 81 years of age. Lucy was predeceased by her parents William and Katherine Maduck, husband Joe, grandson Damian Gebhard, brother Walter Maduck, sister Elsie Yaworski, brother and sister-in-law Tony and Anne Maduck, sister and brother-in-law Adella and John Woloshyn, and brother-in-law Nick Misko. Left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss are her daughters Betty Feshak of Yorkton, SK and Victoria Gebhard (Chris) of Nanoose Bay, BC; granddaughters Kyra Feshak, Kristina and Amanda Gebhard; brothers John (Angeline) Maduck, Bill (Adeline) Maduck, and Alex (Vi) Maduck; sisters Jean Misko, Ruby (Boris) Tyshkewich, Patsy (Adam) Milo and Judy (Gene) Prokop; sister-in-law Anne Maduck; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours at Fairview Arms. Lucy was born in Homefield, Saskatchewan in 1931 to William Maduck and Katherine Horudko. Lucy attended Smokeside School until her help was needed on the family farm. At the age of eighteen, she left the farm to work in Winnipeg and Edmonton. In 1952 she married Joe Feshak and they farmed together in the Willowbrook area. In 1976, they moved to Yorkton where Lucy kept busy at a number of different jobs. She became well known for the delicious perogies she made for the Yorkton Hotel. She was often told that her perogies were the "very best," and had many special requests to make them for various people. Lucy found pleasure in the smallest things that life had to offer. She immensely enjoyed her houseplants, doing word fill-ins, making puzzles, crocheting, chatting on the phone with friends and family, and visiting with neighbours at Fairview Arms. Lucy had no want for extravagance in her life; instead, the simplest of trinkets brought a smile to her face, and became her most treasured possessions. Lucy always had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, and was deeply saddened by the death of her grandson in 1997. Lucy will be remembered for her strength and resilience. She faced many difficult circumstances in her life and remained selfless and strong-willed throughout. Prayers were held on Monday, November 26, 2012 and the Funeral Liturgy on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Very Rev. Father Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and parish choir members. Kyra Feshak served as the cross bearer and Amanda Gebhard as the epistle reader. Serving as honourary pallbearers were Lucy's siblings, John Maduck, Jean Misko, Bill Maduck, Ruby Tyshkewich, Alex Maduck, Judy Prokop and Patsy Milo. The interment followed in the Gardens of Gethsemane at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ken Maduck, Wendy Nesseth, Ronald Woloshyn, Leonard Milo, Dennis Nesseth and Chris Gebhard serving as the casket bearers.
