Obituary of Dale Jackie
JACKIE - Dale Jackie was born on May 23, 1956 in Regina, Saskatchewan, a son to Jean (nee Olson) and Emil Jackie. Dale attended the class for Special Needs Children at Central School. At the age of 16 he moved to Kinistino, Saskatchewan where he resided and worked on a farm, then moved to a Group Home in Yorkton and worked at the Abilities Centre. When Dale's health necessitated, he moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, then became a resident at the Yorkton District Nursing Home where he entered his eternal rest on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the age of 56 years. Dale's innocent perspective and happy view of the world enriched the lives of those around him. While living at home, he went to Sier's Department Store and put on a pair of over-sized ladies shoes. At home when his mother asked where he got them, he told her. She went to Sier's and found his old runners in the display window! Dale loved music, and especially enjoyed when his sister Joan played the piano; he would sit on top of the piano bobbing his head keeping in time with the music. He tried to drive the family car until he collided with the neighbour's fence. Dale loved the NHL and had T-shirts and sweatshirts of all the teams and at one time he knew all the teams, all the players and their numbers, liking them all equal. Dale enjoyed the Melville Millionaires as well as the Yorkton Terriers because of living there. He loved all animals - so he couldn't understand why a bear at the Saskatoon Zoo, when he put is hand against the double wall fence, came up and bit his finger nail off! Dale was a very sweet and gentle person and always managed to con the T-shirt off his brother Butch's back - he would tell him how much he liked it and bat his eyes sweetly. Dale was treated very special by everyone in Melville while growing up. He wasn't just our special brother he was special to everyone and remembered everyone who was kind to him. Predeceased by his father, Emil Jackie and brother, Darrel "Bob" Jackie. Dales leaves to cherish his life his mother, Jean of Melville; brother, Elwyn "Butch" (Cindy) of Calgary; sisters, Joan Olijnyk of Melville and Candy (Vern) Schick of Melville; niece, Lori Olijnyk of Calgary and nephew, William (Melonie) Olijnyk and their children, Sophie, Max and Sam of Calgary; as well as relatives and friends.
