WIEBE - Mr. Jake Wiebe of Yorkton, beloved husband of Annie, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 74 years of age. Jake was born July 4, 1938 in Warman SK to Sarah and Peter Wiebe. At 19 years of age, Jake worked for the King George Hotel in Saskatoon. His meticulous work skills gained him employment with SaskTel. Jake married his wife of 53 years, Annie, in 1959. Their son Jim was born in 1961 and 3 daughters followed. Jake accepted a transfer to Yorkton with SaskTel in 1962 where he worked for 32 years. Jake enjoyed a retirement that was just short of 20 years. He enjoyed being outside and was patiently awaiting the arrival of spring. Gardening and keeping busy on the yard and in the garage filled many hours of his day. Jake always wanted a brand new car and fulfilled that dream just recently. He was delighted with his much deserved toy and was still discovering new features daily. Jake lent a hand to many neighbours and friends throughout his life. He was the essence of kindness. Jake's 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren were the absolute joy of his life. The loss of a son, Jim, deeply saddened the family in 2011. Jake, or "papa" as he was referred to, enjoyed the regular visits from his family and the many hours of playful activities with his great grandchildren. Socializing over coffee was a daily highlight in papa's life. He will be so deeply missed in our lives. Jake was predeceased by his son, Jim. He is survived by his loving wife, Annie; daughters Debi (Alan), Laura (Chad) and Jennifer (Randy); grandchildren Adam, Brooklyn, Lincoln, Lance and Kieran; and great grandchildren Jagger and Kase.
