Obituary of Art Kuspira

Suddenly, at his home on Thursday, February 7th 2013; Arthur Albert Kuspira, aged 76, passed on to a better life. Born at Fone Hill, Saskatchewan on March 27, 1936 to Mike and Anne (nee Dobko) Kuspira, Art was the sixth of thirteen children. He attended the Fone Hill School and St. Joseph's College in Yorkton. Upon completion of his schooling he obtained employment with Eaton's in Yorkton. When the store closed down he moved to Weyburn, where he worked for two years. He eventually moved to Dauphin, MB where he worked for several years as salesperson, then manager of the Eaton's store. All this while he commuted on weekends to his cabin at Good Spirit Lake. There he spent busy and happy times with his long-time companion Nadine. Together, they remodeled their retreat and beautified their yard with trees, a multitude of flowers and even vegetables. He built many bird houses and deer feeders and a had a great love of wildlife, befriending deer and squirrels. After leaving Dauphin Art returned to Yorkton, where he was employed at Weber's Furniture for several years. He retired to his lake cabin in 2005. He was now able to feed ‘his animals' full time. He even befriended stray cats that arrived at his door, some of which are still at his home. Art was gentle soul, always had kind words for anybody, rarely negative about anything, a friend to all. He loved life and was never so happy when he could spend time socializing with family and friends. He was a master at telling jokes, friends and family will remember they would have to hold their stomach from laughter when he got started. He was also a good cook, enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, playing cards, and just always being busy. During his time with Nadine they spent many holidays across North America and Hawaii. Sadly, Nadine passed away in 1995, and although Art continued to spend time at the cabin, the spark had left with Nadine. In early 2000 his health began to fail. In 2007, after finally realizing he could no longer manage his cabin, he sold it and moved to Yorkton, where he resided until his sudden passing. Predeceased by his parents, Mike and Anne; brothers: Gregory (in infancy), Freddie at age 15, and Carl; sisters: Bernice Kotyk and Beverley Hardybala; brother-in-law, Miro Kotyk; sisters-in-law, Diane Kuspira and Joanne Kuspira. Art leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life: brothers John, Ed (Minnie), Bill (Judy), Bob (Judy); sisters: Dolores (Jack) Emery, Helen, and Betty; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his many other relatives and friends. Art will be lovingly remembered and sorrowfully missed by all whose lives he touched. Rest in peace. Interment Details Yorkton City Cemetery
