Obituary of Nita Kruzeniski

KRUZENISKI - Mrs. Nita Kruzeniski beloved wife of the Late John Kruzeniski passed away on Friday, February 8th, 2013 at Echo Lodge in Fort Qu'Appelle. She was ninety years of age. Nita Isabel Mason was born on October 2, 1922 in the Ituna district, a daughter of Roy and Margaret Mason. She grew up in the Beaverside district and attended school in the area. On November 16, 1946 Nita married John Kruzeniski in Port Arthur, Ontario. After their marriage John and Nita farmed in the Beaverside district, taking off 52 crops before they retired from farming. Nita lived for a time in St. Ann's Home in Ituna, Balcarres Extended Care Home and finally Echo Lodge in Fort Qu'Appelle. Nita believed in service to her community and over the years she volunteered in many organizations including 4-H, her church and women's groups. John's proudest contribution was helping to build Ituna Pioneer Lodge. After it was built, Nita took a nurse's aide course and worked in Pioneer Lodge for many years. She had compassion and love for each of the residents. Nita was predeceased by her husband John, father Roy, mother Margaret, sister Velma Douglas and brothers Bob and Don. She leaves behind to celebrate her life her four children: Ron (Yvonne) Kruzeniski of Regina, Bonnie (Brian) Murray of High River, AB, Grant (Kim) Kruzeniski of Regina and Randy (Georgina) Kruzeniski of White Rock, BC; eight grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Michael, David, Steven, Jonathan, Brandon and Kara, and three great grandchildren Braeden, Kinley and Ella; her sister Helen Warren, brother Sandy and many nieces, nephews and friends. In a handwritten, personal history she wrote, "Our blessings have been many and we are thankful for them". Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Albert Schmitz as the Celebrant. The parish choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, ‘Be Not Afraid', ‘As We Gather At Your Table', ‘Here I Am Lord', ‘May Flights of Angels‘, ‘Psalm 23' and ‘How Great Thou Art'. The readers were Bonnie Murray, Helen Howat and Yvonne Kruzeniski. Interment followed in the Ituna R.C. Cemetery with Grant Kruzeniski, Brian Murray, Roman Marshall and grandchildren, Sean Murray, Ryan Murray, David Kruzeniski and Steven Kruzeniski serving as casket bearers.
