A memorial program from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". Anne (Demchuk) Shkwarchuk was born on November 9, 1926 on the family farm in the Canora district; a daughter of Frank and Maria (nee Yakiwchuk) Demchuk. She attended School in Dnister and as a young girl Anne worked for almost seven years for the Jones family in Yorkton as a very devoted caregiver to their children. On May 25, 1963 she was united in marriage to Metro Shkwarchuk. The couple farmed in the Springisde district all their married lives. Anne worked right alongside Metro in all aspects of the farm, cooking meals for home and in the field. She was an excellent cook, and her pyrohy, holubtsi and borscht were her specialty. She kept a large garden and always had a bountiful crop of vegetables for preserving and baking. She milked cows, raised chickens, ran the cream separator to produce cream and eggs to sell. She was a very hard-working, strong-willed individual. She was devoted to her family and took great interest in the activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. 'Baba' always looked forward to being with them. Anne also loved being on her deck with her flowers and her animals. She was also devoted to her church and over the years was very involved in the church activities at Drobot Church, including the ladies association and cooking and cleaning at the hall. Anne faced many health challenges as she aged and in later years her limited mobility took away many of the activities she once enjoyed. She had been hospitalized for extended periods several times over the past few years but with her determination never gave up until she decided to go home to the Lord. She passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with her family by her side. She was 86 years of age. Anne was predeceased by her parents; her two siblings: brother, Tony Demchuk; sister, Lena Chornomydz. Anne leaves to celebrate her life: Metro, her loving husband of 50 years; two daughters: Maryanna (Lorne) Maximnuk of Martensville and their children Glen; & Leanne (Keith Stride); Brenda Hoffman (partner Pat) of Yorkton and her children Aaron (friend Jade) & Shane; great grandson, Kashton Stride; and supportive neighbors Cheryl & Gordon Shindle, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Anne's humor and vibrant personality will be missed by all who knew her. Service Information
