KORCHINSKI - Adeline passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on Thanksgiving Monday, October 14th 2013 at the Ituna Pioneer Lodge. Adeline was born on December 18th, 1914 on the family farm in the Ituna district of Saskatchewan; the first child of 13 born to Maxim and Mary (nee Shul) Koziski. She was raised on the farm north of Ituna and attended Olga School. On November 22nd, 1931 she was united in marriage to John Pawliw in Ituna. This union was blessed with three daughters, Rose, Isabel, and Diane and one son, Erwin. They operated a mixed farm south of Ituna. Tragedy struck the family on April 7th 1955, when John was killed and Adeline injured in a vehicle-train accident in Ituna. On September 1, 1956 Adeline married Steve Korchinski and a little over a year later, their daughter Lillian was born. They farmed until Steve's death on August 19th, 1996, when she relocated to a little house in town. Adeline loved the farm life. Her survival skills were many. She provided for her young family by plucking hundreds of ducks, walking to town and selling eggs, cream and butter, and even cutting hair for the neighbors. Her first language was Ukrainian, and taught her children this language and culture as well. She was an active gardener up until she moved into St. Anne's Home in 2011. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting, she was a fabulous cook. Adeline was quite the 'social butterfly', loving to sing and play cards with her friends and neighbors. Her family was everything to her, and her kindness, humor and love will not be forgotten. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers: John, Joe, Peter & Mike, and by a sister, Julia Nelson. Also three sons-in-law: Denis Gritzfeldt, Joe Doucette, and Bill Kozmick; and a granddaughter Karen Doucette. She leaves to mourn her passing four daughters: Rose Kozmick, Isabel Doucette, Dianne Gritzfeldt, and Lillian (Allan) Kowalyk; one son Erwin (Louise) Pawliw; nine grandchildren: Brian (Heather) Fedor, Brenda (Barry) Edwards, Brian (Louise) Doucette, Dwayne (Sandra) Doucette, Leslie Pawliw, and Kevin, Lance (Adrienne) Pawliw, Angela (Stephane) Verreault, Crystal (Gary) Boyarski, and David Kowalyk; thirteen great grandchildren: Leanne Fedor, Michelle (Rob) Allan, Caoimhe, Deirbhle, and Ciaran Doucette, Jeremy, Ashley and Derek Pawliw, Ava, Vincent and William Verreault, Shea Tripp and Rowan Boyarski; three great-great grandchildren: Mckenna, Aiden and Ty Allan. Two brothers: Stanley (Olya) Koziski and Nestor Koziski; five sisters: Rose Mudry, Anne Nelson, Tessie Diakow, Mary Semkowicz, and Olga (Mike) Boyda; a brother-in-law Roy Nelson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The prayer services were held on Thursday evening, October 17, 2013 and the Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday morning, October 18, 2013, all from the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna withVery Rev. Father Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. Cantors, Wayne Boczulak, Ladmer Moskal & Heidi Spilchak led in the singing of the resposnes. The crossbearer was Shea Tripp and the Epistle-reader was Lillian Kowalyk.. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with David Kowalyk, Brian Fedor, Barry Edwards, Brian Korchinski, Stephane Verreault & Leonard Pawliw serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to Sacred Heart Special Projects Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
