Obituary of Albert Yanke

It is with deep sadness we had to say farewell to Albert Yanke the early morning hours of March 29, 2014 with his wife and family by his side. Albert is preceded by his first born son, Robyn, his parents Gottleib and Edith, his sister Mabel, brothers Fred, John, Lawrence, Gordon, Irwin. In-laws Ludwig and Augusta, Mary Yanke, Elsie Yanke, Elsie Yanke, Steini Sveinbjornson. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Violet, his children Linton (Laurel), Jason (Mary), Judy (John), Tim, Mark (Brenda), Guy (Cheryl). His Grandchildren Jennifer (Larry), Melissa (Curtis), Andrew, Erin (Mark), Kaeleigh, Jill, Daniel, Luke, Meghan, Nathalie, Hunter, and Mary. Great grandchildren Ashley, Emily, Lawson, Violet and Harper. His brothers Norman, Melfort (Mary), sister-in laws Leotha Yanke, Marie Yanke, Edna Seeley,brother in-law Daweld Stehr (Vicky) and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Albert was born April 15, 1920 at Springside, Sk on the farm. He moved North of Churchbridge with his family in 1930, where they started farming. Albert was in the army from 1942 to 1945. In 1948 Albert starting farming on his own. On June 18, 1949 Albert married the love of his life and best friend Violet Stehr. Albert enjoyed many good and bad years of farming while raising his family. 1989 Albert and Violet moved to town and left Tim and Linton to farm the land. In 1997 Albert was diagnosed with Cancer. Thru a hard fought battle Albert still helped out on the farm. Albert would sit in the tractors with a smile on his face. Albert and Violet would take many trips to Toronto to visit Judy and her family. Thru the years Albert joined the local district school board and church board. After moving to town Albert joined the local Housing Authority board. He also enjoyed many ends at the local curling club, as well as golfing. In 2004 Albert purchased a scooter for getting around town. You could see Albert cruising around town. Albert enjoyed giving his grandchildren a ride on the scooter or letting them drive. In 2011 Albert became a resident of the Langenburg Centennial Care Home. There you could find Albert telling the nurses a good joke or spending lots of time sharing stories with Gordon Rathgeber until Gordon's passing. The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Langenburg Centennial Care home for all the care they provided Albert and the family over the years.
