Obituary of Anne Koshman

Koshman - Mrs. Anne (Dareichuk) Koshman of Yorkton, formerly of the Insinger district passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 29, 2014 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 93 years of age. Anne was born in the Drobot District, north of Theodore, Sask., on October 7, 1920. She was the third child of six born to Wasyl and Katy (Tymoruski) Dareichuk. Anne received her schooling at Northlake school. She grew up on the farm, often working for farmers taking care of their household and children. In 1942, she met Paul Koshman and they married June 19, 1949. They purchased two quarters of land in the Insinger area and began farming and raising their family: Norman born in 1952 and Barry born in 1958. In 1961 they purchased another quarter where they built their new home. Ann loved her garden, claiming that her garden was her friend. She worked very hard to provide for her family by cooking, gardening, canning and milking cows. Anne worked side by side with Paul in every aspect of their lives on the farm. In her spare time, Anne also loved quilting. She loved to play cards, enjoying a good Kaiser tournament. In 1988 Anne and Paul retired and bought a home in Theodore, Sask. They resided there until Sept., 2010 when they moved to Queen Elizabeth Court enjoying socializing, cards, shuffleboard, bingo and visiting. Anne was predeceased by her husband Paul in 2012, her mother Katy in 1969, her father Wasyl in 1981, her mother-in-law Mary in 1972, father-in-law John in 1977, brother John, sister Mary Podhorski in 1998, brother Bill Dareichuk in 2009, brother-in-law John Podhorski in 1979, brother-in-law Fred Holowka in 1995, brother-in-law William Koshman in 2006, brother-in-law Robert Summers in 2012, brother-in-law Henry Basiuk in 2012, and sister-in-law Anna Holowka in 2005. Anne leaves to mourn her two sons, Norman (Karen) of Yorkton, their children Greg of Yorkton, Terry (Kathy) of Yorkton and Ryan (Eileen) and only great-grandchild Jacob of Saskatoon; son Barry (Wendy) of Insinger, their children Bradie (Randeelyn) of Southend, Sask., Darbie (Amanda) of Rosthern, Sask. and Korby (Nicole) of Foam Lake. Anne is also survived by brother Steve (Amy) Dareichuk of Yorkton and sister Lena Baziuk of Winnipeg, Man., plus numerous nephews and nieces. A Prayer Service was held on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The Responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky and Parish Choir Members. The cross bearer was Janet Dziaduck. The Interment took place in the Garden of St. Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with the Grandsons, Greg Koshman, Bradie Koshman, Terry Koshman, Darbie Koshman, Ryan Koshman and Korby Koshman serving as the casket bearers.
