Obituary of Fred Koback

KOBACK - Fred Koback, resident of St. Anne's Home in Ituna, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville with his sons and family by his side. He was 97 years of age. Fred Koback was born on February 9, 1917 in the Beckenham district of Saskatchewan; the fifth child born to Yustina (nee Turchan) and Fred Koback. He was raised on the family farm and attended the Winthorp School. When he finished school Fred began farming with his brother matt until he was called to join the army. Upon his dis-charge from the army Fred returned to farming in the Horse Lake district. In 1952 he married Annie Melnyk of Jasmin. This union was blessed with three sons: Larry, Edward and David. In 1962 the family bought land closer to Ituna so that the boys would be closer to school. Predeceased by his father in 1948 and his mother in 1969; his brothers Nick (1961), Matt (1963), Joe (1980), and his sister Mary Bulych (1985). He is survived by his wife Annie of Ituna Pioneer Lodge; sons Larry (Brenda) of Regina; Edward (Susan) of Pense, and David (Jeanne) of Emerald Park; six grandchildren: Barrett & Byran, Taylor & Shelby, Amanda & Meagan; and one great granddaughter Piper. Also numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends. Prayers were held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2014 from Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Fr. Boris Kyba C.Ss.R. as Celebrant. The epistle reader was Taylor Koback and the crossbearer was Shelby Koback. The interment took place in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with sons Larry, Ed & David and grandsons Taylor, Barrett & Bryan serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home. Service Information
