A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". SCHRADER - Grant Garry Schrader passed away on October 22, 2014 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 69. He was born on January 28, 1945 at St. Bonifice Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His mother Eileen Schrader, who was divorced after Grant was born, died at the young age of 24 from cancer, leaving 3 year old Grant to be raised by his loving grandparents, Gerhard and Christina Schrader of Yorkton. He was a beautiful little boy with dark curly hair and was adored by a house full of girls. His education started at Burke School, he then went on to graduate from the Yorkton Collegiate Institute. He was very athletic, playing on the collegiate football team, as well as, playing hockey. His passion in life was to spend time outdoors. Fishing and golfing with friends were two of his priorities but the joy of his life was to spend time with his kids and his grandchildren, as family was of utmost importance to him. On October 20, 1967 he was married to the love of his life, Noelle LeSann, and they were blessed with two children Corinne and Keith. He taught his kids to love sports and the outdoors and was involved with coaching his son for many years in hockey. The highlight of his coaching was when the Yorkton Parkland Mallers won the Midget AAA Air Canada Cup in 1993. Every winter they would head south to Mesa, Arizona to enjoy not only the warmth of the sun and golfing, but more importantly the dear friends they have come to know and love. Grant was a man of many nicknames; Pierre, Louie, Kraut, Animal, Fudd, Hawk which was always of amusement to the family. Obviously the number of nicknames he had was an indication of his close connections to people. He was known to all as a putterer, keeping himself busy in the garage, manicuring the lawn and upkeeping the yard in town, at the lake and in Mesa. The coffee was always on, the beer was cold and friends were always welcomed. He spent a great deal of time discussing football and hockey games, almost on a daily basis, with his son Keith. Their favourite topic...Rider - Stampeder rivalry. The modern marvels of Facetime and Skype enabled him to keep a closeness to his daughter Corinne, although she was many miles away. He was predeceased by his mother Eileen, his grandparents, Gerhard and Christina Schrader, sisters; Myrna, (Fred Haas), Elruth (Frank) DeWindt, Lorna (Arnold) Kinzel, Florence (Jack) Fedyk, Marion Schrader, Margaret Schrader, as well as, Edgar (Sylvia) Schrader. His mother and father-in-law, Marcel and Victoria LeSann, sister-in-law, Jacqueline LeSann, brother-in-law Raymond LeSann and sister-in-law Phyllis LeSann. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Noelle and their children, Corinne (Phil) Smith of China, Keith (Moira) Schrader of Calgary. Grandsons, Cole and Hayden Smith and two step-granddaughters Dakoda and MacKenzie Jones, by his sisters, Geraldine (Allan) Herzke of Delta BC and Sherrin (Dick) Brunner of St. Albert, Alberta, many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends. The funeral service was held on Monday, October 27, 2014 from Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Rev. Ray Maher officiating.
