Obituary
Obituary of Mary Sereda
Mary was born on September 6, 1940 as the first child of Dymetro and Sophie Maksymowich. Her two brothers Willy and Dennis arrived after her. She grew up on a farm outside of Kelliher, SK and attended school at Clarkson elementary and Foam Lake high school.
Mary loved music and met her soon to be husband Martin at a dance where she was performing. Mary had a beautiful voice and won many talent shows singing harmony with her cousin Irene. Mary played the banjo and guitar, and joined a band with her future husband.
Mary and Martin dated for two years and were married on July 26, 1958. Their four children were born in August 1958 (Terry), March 1961 (Debby), May 1964 (Laurie) and March 1966 (Greg).
Mary and Martin raised their children in a home they bought in 1964 and still live in today. Mary stayed home until all her kids were in school, then started her first part time job at John’s Jewelry. She found her passion with Royal Studios where she remained working until her final days.
Mary and Martin, along with their friends spent years travelling across Canada, the United States and a memorable trip through Europe. She had a sense of fun and adventure that was infectious.
The single most important part of Mary’s life was her family. This she put above all else, and this love of family will live on in her children and grandchildren.
