SCHWARTZ - Mr. Edward Schwartz of Yorkton, widower of the late Hilda Schwartz passed away suddenly on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Foam Lake Jubilee Nursing Home. He was 88 years of age. Edward was born February 1, 1926 on a farm in the Stornoway district; he was the son of Conrad and Katherine (nee Guenther) Schwartz. Edward grew up on the family farm and received his education at the Glasgow School. Edward remained on the family farm after the completion of his education. On June 27, 1948 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stornoway, Edward was united in marriage to Hilda Liebrecht. Edward and Hilda continued to farm and raise their two children in the Stornoway area. In 1975 Edward and Hilda moved to Yorkton and at that time became members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Edward was employed with Parkland Engine until his retirement in 1989. In 2011 Edward and Hilda moved to the Independent Manor in Yorkton, where they met many new friends and enjoyed their time there. With Edward`s health deteriorating he was placed in the Foam Lake Jubilee Nursing Home in October. Edward enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and always had some words of advice for each of them. Most of the times he was a man of few words. We always knew when Dad was not happy with something, there was that look. We can always remember Dad fixing something that was broken or shining his car. Dad enjoyed watching curling and football games, going fishing, playing shuffleboard and going out to the Liebrecht farm during harvest time. Dad always looked forward Saturday mornings to join the Rhein gang for a cup of coffee at the mall. Edward leaves to mourn his daughter Nedene Atkinson, her children Matthew (Jenn) and Jennifer, son Conrad Schwartz (Georgia), their children Derrick (Kristen), Scott (Chelsea), sister Freda McCann, sisters-in-law Florence Schwartz, Hilda Schwartz, Martha Liebrecht, Elsie Liebrecht, Joan Schnell, Patricia Schnell. Edward was predeceased by his wife Hilda, brothers Conrad Schwartz and William Schwartz, brother-in-law Joe McCann, son-in-law Richard Atkinson, and his parents Conrad and Katherine Schwartz. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Pastor Fred Schneider of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Yorkton officiating. The organist, Amanda Buhler led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, ‘Children of The Heavenly Father', ‘O' That Will Be Glory' and ‘When The Role is Called Up Yonder'. The interment followed in the family plot in the Garden of St. John at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Matthew Atkinson, Jennifer Atkinson, Derrick Schwartz, Scott Schwartz, Trent Guenther and Laurie LaBelle serving as the casket bearers.
