A memorial folder from the funeral service may be printed under the "Memories" tab, then choose "Memorial Program". PURICH - Nettie Purich was born on August 5, 1916 on the family farm in the Wroxton district of Saskatchewan; a daughter of Nettie (nee Olynick) and Philip Peleshytyk. She was raised on the farm and attended Jarema School till Grade 8. As a young woman, Nettie worked at home and also for farm families in the district. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Sam Purich. The couple worked on a farm in the Pense district for a year, and then ventured down east to Ontario. The couple settled in Hamilton, and both began employment at the Westinghouse Company factory. In 1946 they returned to the Wroxton district with the intention of returning to Hamilton, but an offer to purchase land came up and Sam and Nettie decided to buy. They farmed in the Wroxton district for the next 40 years. In 1986 the couple purchased a home in Yorkton but continued to farm, helping their son Robert. In 1992 Sam passed away. In 1995 Robert retired from the farm and moved into town to care for Nettie. As her health declined, Nettie became a resident of a private care home, then to the Anderson Lodge, and finally becoming a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, where she had since resided. Nettie passed away on Wednesday, January 14th 2015. Nettie enjoyed growing a large garden on the farm, and reaping the bountiful harvest of vegetables each year, which she shared with family and friends. Her pastimes included knitting, crocheting, and watching her favorite TV programs. She often remarked that she lived life the best she could, and wasn't afraid of dying. Predeceased by her brothers, John & Philip Pells, and Steve, Bill and Metro Peleshytyk, and by sisters Mary and Polly Denaka, Annie Dubnyk, Jean Hughes, and Bella Shymko. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Robert of Yorkton; sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Evelyn Peleshytyk, and numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Monday, January 19th 2015 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, highway #10 east, Yorkton. Mr. Gerald Kreba of the Yorkton Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiated. The interment took place in the Garden of St. Matthew.
