GARA - It is with profound sadness we would like to announce the peaceful passing of Mary (nee Dumanski) Gara of Theodore, beloved wife of the late John Garaon February 23rd, 2015. Mary was blessed with a wonderful 102 ½ years of age. Mary was born August 16th, 1912 in the Theodore district of Saskatchewan. She attended school in Theodore walking along the railway tracks for 2.5 miles with her brothers, sisters & uncles. On November 11th, 1931 she was united in marriage to John Gara. They started farming on the Gara homestead and purchased more land nearby, raising three children, Maurice, Jean and Margaret. John and Mary built a new home in 1966 at Theodore. As they lived here Mary enjoyed years of curling and serving on various ladies and church groups. She grew a huge and bountiful garden, providing her grand & great grandchildren with perogies, dill pickles and pies. Mary was predeceased by husband John, son Maurice, daughter Jean (Ivan McDowell), parents Partemy and Annie, sisters; Rose (William Nidesh), Ella (Fred Klewchuk), brothers; Wasyl, Nick (Margaret), Bill (Ruby), Matt (Lillian) and Walter. Left to celebrate her memory daughter Margaret (Wes) Woluschuk of Calgary, five grandchildren; Pam (Michael), Millette of Rockyford, AB, Heather (Phil) Leedham of Kamloops, BC, Stacey (Dave) Frank of Calgary, Robert McDowell of Calgary, Stuart (Gwen) McDowell of Saskatoon and great grandchildren; Johnathon, Devyn, Shelby & Christopher Millette, Evangeline & Ellaine Leedham, Nicholas & Thomas Frank and Leanne McDowell; brother Steve (Sophie) Dumanski of London, ON and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Very Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The responses were led by Gerald Yaholnitsky and Parish Choir members. The cross bearer was Thomas Frank. The interment took place in the Theodore Town Cemetery with Robert McDowell, Stuart McDowell, Johnathon Millette, Christopher Millette, Michael Millette and David Frank serving as the casket bearers.
