Obituary of Mildred Adeline Ottenbreit
OTTENBREIT - Mrs. Mildred Ottenbreit, age 83, of Grayson, SK, beloved wife of the late Edward Ottenbreit passed away peacefully with family by her side, on March 30, 2015 at Grace Hospice in Regina. Mildred, one of five children, was born to Armond and Barbara Desrosiers on May 27, 1931 on the family farm near Grayson. As a child, Mildred attended Ferrell School in Dubuc, worked hard on the family farm, and in her spare time enjoyed playing with the neighbours, reading books, and having overnight stays with her Grandma Desrosiers. Mildred married the love of her life, Edward Ottenbreit, in 1949. The couple farmed in the Grayson area, where they raised four children: Denise, Roderick, Celine and Colin, and later welcomed twelve grandchildren. Mildred and Eddie enjoyed family get-togethers, holidays, and time socializing with friends. When Mildred and Eddie moved into town, Mildred was loved by all at Ottenbreit's Meats, where she worked for fifteen years. Following Ed's early passing at the age of 59, Mildred continued to be a pillar of strength for her family and enjoyed life to the fullest. In retirement Mildred enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards, visiting friends, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The remarkable woman that she was, Mildred always led by example, shared generously, and loved with a big heart. Her words were wise, her laughter was warm, her actions kind, and her presence always comforting. Mildred will forever be remembered by her devoted children Denise Exner, Roderick (Irene) Ottenbreit, Celine Ottenbreit, and Colin (Denise) Ottenbreit; her beloved grandchildren Tammy Exner, Regan (Kim) Exner, Kenric (Brittany) Exner, Pamela (Dwight) Matties, Marland (Leslie) Ottenbreit, Jeremy (Jenelle) Ottenbreit, Shane (Jackie) Ottenbreit, Brandi Ottenbreit (Kevin Selland), Aimee Ottenbreit (Luke Schmidt), Tyson (Raelene) Ottenbreit, Coralie Ottenbreit, and Kristin Ottenbreit; her treasured twenty-four great-grandchildren; her siblings and in-laws Eva Rieger, Kathleen (George) Lichtenwald, Clarence Desrosiers, Doug Parislau, Joe Basile, Delphis (Lorette) Ottenbreit, Aileen Striker, Leona (Norman) Dean, Wilf Goebel, and Delores (George) Fischer; and many friends who were blessed to know her. Mildred joins in heaven her loving husband Edward; her sister Corine Parislau; sisters-in-law Katie Desrosiers, Hilda Basile and Ruth Goebel; brothers-in-law Bob Striker and Tony Rieger; and son-in-law Jerry Exner. ~ Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.
