WASSILL - Mr. Bob Wassill of Yorkton, formerly of the Melville district entered eternal rest peacefully the evening of September 8, 2015, in his room at Melody Manor as a result of his various health challenges. Robert (Bob) Francis Wassill was born at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville, Saskatchewan on August 9, 1943, the youngest child of John & Victoria Wassill (Wawrzyniak). Bob started school at Oak Hill School in August 1949 and was a student there till he completed his Grade 4. He then continued his schooling at St. Henry's School in Melville after his parents moved off the farm and into Melville in 1954. He completed his Grade 12 in Melville, graduating from St. Henry's High School in 1962. Upon graduating from high school Bob attended University, spent a term at Saskatchewan Teacher's College and held various jobs throughout eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba. But farming was where his heart always was and with some encouragement from various family members returned to farm in the Otthon/McKim area, with his oldest brother Albert, beginning in the spring of 1967. This farming operation continued till 1996 when Bob had to leave the farming business due to significant health challenges. As a young man growing up Bob was an avid curler, played a little softball, threw the odd horseshoe and of course, played lead guitar in a number of local bands. Bob married Alice Miller of the Lemberg area in June of 1981. They lived a happy life together for 28 years till Alice's passing in July of 2009. Bob lived most of his adult years on his "home quarter "located exactly halfway between Melville & Yorkton on Saskatchewan Highway # 10. Bob and Alice moved into Yorkton around the year 2000. In 2013 Bob was in need of more continual care and became a full time resident of the Theodore & District Nursing Home in September 2013 and then on to Melody Manor in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home in November 2013. Besides his wife Alice, Bob was predeceased by his parents John (1978) & Victoria (1993), brother Elmer (2000), brother Albert (2005), nephew Gerald Wassill (1977), brother-in-law Edward Wozniak (2000), sister-in-law Helen Wassill (2010) and numerous relatives and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Cec Wozniak of Melville, Dorothy (Joe) Fulop of Calgary along with his brothers Dr. Dan Wassill (Vera) of Yorkton and Clarence Wassill of Maple Ridge, B.C. Also numerous nieces, nephews and friends located throughout the world. RIP Uncle Bob!
