Obituary of Karen Renkas and Brielle Filarchuk
FILARCHUK, BRIELLE - It is with great sorrow that the family of Brielle Filarchuk announce her passing on April 2, 2022. Brielle was born on July 1, 2013 to Sam Filarchuk and Karen Renkas. She was the youngest sibling to Kayla, Tylan and Teagan.
Brielle attended Ituna school and was in grade 2. Brielle loved being outdoors and living the farm girl life, with her partner in crime, Teagan. She was well known for forking feed and yelling at the miniature horses and cows. There wasn’t an animal that Brielle didn’t try to recruit back to the family farm. Brielle also enjoyed camping, being on the pontoon and playing with her sister. She was well known for her sassy attitude and quick come backs as well as her wild and beautifully messy blond hair. Brielle was also known to rule the soccer field at recess and was a friend to many. Brielle kept her parents on their toes at all times, but filled their hearts with so much love and joy.
In 2018, Brielle gained the title of being an auntie to her niece Kenzlee. This was a title Brielle wore proudly. She enjoyed spending time with her niece and teaching her new, and sometimes mischievous, things.
Brielle leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, her father Sam, siblings Kayla (Kyle), Tylan (Kendra), Teagan, niece Kenzlee, Uncle Leon, grandparents Tom & Pia Filarchuk, as well as many other family and friends. Brielle is now joined by her mom Karen where they are at rest together, and will be missed by all that knew and loved them.
RENKAS, KAREN - It is with great sorrow that the family of Karen Renkas announce her passing at her home on July 2, 2022. Karen was born on January 30, 1974 to Sam and Margaret Washek. She was the youngest of three children. Karen attended elementary school in Goodeve until the closure of that school, and then attended school in Ituna where she graduated. Karen was wed to Stacey Renkas where she was blessed with the birth of 2 of her children, Kayla born in 1995 and Tylan, born in 1998. After the separation from this marriage, Karen met the love of her life, Sam Filarchuk in 2008, where they were blessed with two beautiful daughters. Teagan born in 2011, and Brielle in 2013. There was nothing more important to Karen than her family.
Karen worked for 29 years for the Saskatchewan Health Authority as a Continuing Care Aide. Her compassionate and giving personality made her the perfect person for the job, and she was always sure to brighten the days of the residents and staff that she worked with.
In 2018, Karen officially gained the title as “Grandma” as her one and only granddaughter, Kenzlee, was born. “Nama” was the first to teach Kenzlee how to crawl, and was always proud to have Kenzlee in the kitchen with her where she shared her love of baking.
Karen was well known for her sense of humor and love for her family and animals. There was never a recipe Karen wasn’t willing to try or share. She would always ensure there was some sort of baking on the table for company. Karen would spend countless hours in her garden, and was always sure to have plenty of the garden harvest canned to give to family and friends. Overall, Karens true passion was spending time with Sam and her children. Whether it was camping, being out on the pontoon, or supper together, as long as Karen was with her family, she was happy.
On April 2, 2022, tragedy struck the family with the sudden loss of Karen and Sam’s youngest daughter Brielle. Following this loss, Karen would never be the same and passed away suddenly on July 2, 2022 to be reunited with Brielle.
Karen was predeceased by her daughter Brielle. She leaves to mourn her passing and to keep her memory alive, the love of her life Sam Filarchuk, her children Kayla (Kyle), Tylan (Kendra), Teagan, granddaughter Kenzlee, brother in law, Leon, and in-laws Tom & Pia Filarchuk, as well as numerous family and friends.
