Obituary of James "Johnny" Sarada
James J. Sarada passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 11th, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville. He celebrated his 83rd birthday on Monday, October 19th. James "Johnny" was born on the family farm in the Willowbrook district on October 19, 1932. He was the second oldest of six children born to Fritz and Mary Sarada (nee Skilnick). After completing his schooling, Johnny remained at home to farm with his father Fritz and mother Mary. The fall of 1952 his father Fritz became ill and the family farm was now left in the hands of his mother Mary with Johnny at her side. Fritz passed on in July of 1953. Johnny never looked back. He accepted his responsibility of continuing to help his mother Mary to endure mixed farming and providing a home on the farm for his younger siblings, three sisters and a toddler brother. By this time, his older brother Bill was employed away from home. In 1971, Johnny and his mother Mary relocated to Melville. Johnny sought employment at Morris Industries in Yorkton and continued grain farming. He retired from Morris Industries in 1994 and farming in 1997. Johnny was predeceased by his parents, Fritz and Mary; brother Bill and sisters Lorraine and Lillian; and a very special, loving companion Ruth Stoll. James "Johnny" is survived by his sister Agnes (Mark) Porter of Owen Sound, ON; brother Richard (Peggy) Sarada of Yorkton; brother-in-law Bob Giles of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Lena Sarada of Penticton, BC; several nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends. James "Johnny" was blessed to have enjoyed a second special family, Ruth's sons: Mark (Moira) Stoll of Melville and son John Henry; Blaine (Denise) Stoll of Yorkton and daughter Elizabeth; and several acquaintances. The funeral service was held on Tuesday morning, November 17th 2015 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. Cantor, Ed Pindus led in the singing of the responses.
