Obituary of Lillie Hauser

A long-time resident of Melville, Saskatchewan, Lillie Otilge Hauser passed away peacefully at the age of 83, after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses. Mom's parents came to Canada in 1930; her mother from Lipno Poland and her father from Prussia. They lived on an acreage 2 miles west of Melville until they moved into Melville in the fall of 1948. Mom was the first born of four children on their homestead in 1932 Lil, Linda, Selma, Henry and oldest stepbrother Charlie. As a young girl mom often needed to be a young mother to her siblings as there was much work for her parents to do on the farm and her younger sister was often ill and had to be taken to the hospital, leaving Lillie in charge. Mom did everything she could to help with the household and later worked for Swifts Canadian, candling eggs for a number of years. She married Herbert Hauser on December 2nd 1951. It was the last Sunday wedding at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Dad built their 1st home on 7th Avenue in 1955 where years of enjoyment were spent with their three children Brenda, Janice and Keith. Mom was a woman, a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend that possessed a tremendous passion towards everyone. She carried that same passion in everything she did, be it with family, friends or service in the church and community. Her strong faith fuelled her absolute love of life, people, and new experiences. Mom thoroughly enjoyed volunteering in church for weddings, funerals and altar care. She loved to sing and was part of a number of choirs and singing groups. Her absolute favorite was singing and travelling with Country Cousins. She especially loved her special part with the dancing puppet man. Another musical passion was going to Hostfest every year with family or friends and she enjoyed every moment up until she took ill. We can say with great pride that because of mom and a few other women the Melville Thrift Shop came into existence. She had to retire her numerous positions due to illness after 40 years of service, which we all know was really hard for her to give up. She also loved bowling and curling and did so for many years even traveling for Provincial Finals. This too had to end due to knee injury. Mom had a amazing appreciation for a number of her precious collections. They varied through the years from scrapbooks of the Royal family to her most favorite Beanie Babies. Further to her collections, she was an avid recycler long before recycling began. With the family business Mom was a real trooper cleaning, running errands and taking cold shakes to dad on hot days. At home mom could always be found tending her garden and flowers. We all delighted in her wonderful variety of canning for many years. Celebrations were a huge part of mom's life. To gather the whole family together for major occasions or just because, "lit up her life". Just a few weeks ago we sat writing cards and wrapping gifts together preparing for Christmas. She was so happy to be ready to give. She gave in many ways of herself, food, gifts and especially surprises for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharing, caring and giving thanks to God was a way of life for us through good times as well as bad. Mom passionately cared for her ageing parents for many years and was a pillar of strength particularly throughout all of dads illnesses for 63+ years of their married life. Mom was an incredible inspiration to us all with her energy and enthusiasm to travel anywhere anytime. She thrived on experiencing new things and desired to broaden her horizons of knowledge in every direction. Mom amazed us all with her zest for life. Even as her health was failing she was determined to get up and go and experience more. Mom set an extraordinary example of what Christian women can and will do despite all odds. We will remember all mom inspired us to be, when God is first in our lives and we'll love and cherish her memory always and forever. Mom joins in eternal peace her husband, Herbert Hauser; her father, Henry Schindel and mother, Emilia (nee Krampitz) Schindel; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Emilia Hauser; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie (Myrt) Schindel; sister and brother-in-law, Selma (Bruce) Sinclair; and several relatives in Germany. Left to cherish mom's memories and vitality of life are her children, Brenda (Gord) Padar, Janice (Joseph) Kowbel and Keith (Barb) Hauser; her grandchildren, Carla (Jason) Cochran, Ryan (Rebekka) Padar, Matthew (Trisha) Hauser Kowbel, Mishaela (Chris) Friend, Anastasha (Tony) Sikler, Jantina Kowbel and Carl Berglof; mom's great-grandchildren who's precious little lives brought much love and joy to mom; Jagger Cochran, Ryka and Destiny Padar, Noah and Malachi Hauser Kowbel and Niayla, Layla and Derek Friend; her sister, Linda (Herb) Meyer; her brother, Henry (Monika) Schindel; her sister-in-law, Arlene (Harvey) Tubman; several nieces and nephews; and cousins in Germany.
