Obituary of Rose Panchuk
PANCHUK - It is with deep sadness the family of Rose Panchuk announce her passing on Thursday, April 14, 2016. Rose (Rozalia) was born on March 19, 1926 in Hungary; a daughter of John and Sophie Jacobs. She immigrated to Canada at a young age with her mother Sophie and brother Gabriel, to join their father John. The family homesteaded in the Jedburgh district. In her early 20's, Rose ventured down east to Toronto. There she met Michael Panchuk, and the two were wed in 1948. They then moved to Shell Lake to a farm to live until 1959, when the family moved to Willowbrook. Here Rose operated a café until 1979, when the couple moved from Willowbrook to Yorkton. Rose worked as a cook at the Corona Restaurant for three years. Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, her garden, crafts, knitting and crocheting. Rose was a kind, considerate individual who was loved by many. Rose was predeceased by her parents; her in-laws; brother Gabriel; sister Esther, and other family members. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Michael; children: Deanna (Ken), Barry (Adrienne), and their children, and Judy. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 19th 2016 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. Ray Bailey officiated. Song-leader, Leonard Varga led in the hymns 'Rock of Ages', 'Church in the Wildwood', and 'Amazing Grace'. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Terry, Bryan and Levi Hull, Bruce Jacob, Garry Pottle and Ken Burton serving as the casketbearers. Memorials were to the Alzheimer's Society.
