Cora Josephine Keshane (McKay) was born October 30, 1944 on the Tootinaowaziibeeng First Nation to Samuel & Charlotte McKay (Ironstand). She married Eugene Keshane and they had 9 children. Later Cora and Art Shingoose had 3 children.
Cora is predeceased by her parents, Sam & Charlotte McKay, sons; John Henry Keshane, Cameron Darren Keshane, Francis Faron “Tony” Keshane, Adopted Children; Vivian Friday & Perry Durocher. Grandchildren; Tamara and Nicole Keshane, Jade Beaulieu and Daughter-in-law Inez Keshane.
Cora will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters; Chief Barry McKay, John McKay, Marlene McKay and Marjorie McKay. Her children; Maxine (Jerry Sr.), Warren Sr. (Roberta), Beverley (Lee), Darwin (+Inez), Ryan (Vivian), Gaileen, Carletta, Cynthia, Arthur. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, adopted children she loved and called her own, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Love personified, an accurate description of who Cora was. Always ready and willing to lend a hand to those in need. An ear ready to listen to those who needed someone to talk to. A shoulder for those to cry on, and an outreached arm ready to pick up those who had fallen. An amazing sense of humour, which she passed onto her family, never missing a chance to tease or make jokes. When at home you could usually find her sitting in front of her sewing machine, with gospel or televised church services playing in the background. Sometimes, you’d hear stories from her children about some of the “old school” discipline they’ve received but you’d never believe it based on how she treated her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often time telling their parents to “leave them alone”.
Cora was always a firm believer in her faith.
Psalm 23:4
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Service Details.
