Obituary of Wanda Rose Klimczak
KLIMCZAK - Mrs. Wanda Klimczak of Ituna passed away on November 16, 2016 at the Ituna Pioneer Lodge after a two-year battle with cancer. Wanda was born to Stanley and Theodora (Semchuk) Misiurski on November 29, 1930 on the family farm. Wanda married the love of her life, Peter Klimczak, in 1951 and together they began farming and raising their family in the Ituna area. Wanda often commented that, even though the work was hard and times were often tough, these were the happiest times of her life. Never one to put on airs, Wanda liked living a simple life and enjoyed her part in providing for the family by milking cows and selling the cream, raising chickens, growing a garden, canning, and baking. Her pride shone through when, after laying out a table full of food, she would comment that everything on the table came from the farm. Wanda was a hard worker, never complaining that she had to do all that work without the ease of running water, and she felt like a queen when the day arrived that water ran from a tap in her house. Never to have idle hands, Wanda also enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Anyone who knew Wanda would know of her easy smile, helpful hands, sympathetic ear, and her love of visiting while enjoying a game of cards or bingo, making perogies, over a cup of coffee, or dancing and singing at a party. Always kind and friendly, Wanda made friends easily and everywhere. Wanda was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Peter; her parents; her brother, Joe Misiurski; and her sister, Stella Kolenchuk. She is survived by her children, Audrey (Darryl) Butchko of Cochrane, Don (Chris) Klimczak of Ituna, Sharon (Andy) Anderson of Ituna and Patricia Klimczak of Moose Jaw; her grandchildren, all from the Calgary area, Dawn Ann Klimczak and her husband, Ash Schell; Ryan Butchko and his partner Megan Dobchuk-Land; and Kyla Butchko and her husband, Matthew Drummond; her sister, Joan Bell, of Prince George, BC; and her brother, Bert Misiurski of Burlington, ON. She was a special aunt, cousin and friend to many. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna with Very Rev. Fr. Peter Pidskalny, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ladmer Moskal and Wayne Boczulak. The epistle reader was Dawn Ann Klimczak and the cross bearer was Kyla Butchko. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Wanda may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre or Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre as gifts of remembrance.
