Obituary of Irene Lyons

Irene Lyons of Yorkton, beloved wife of Bob Lyons, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2016 at the Yorkton Union Hospital after a brief struggle with cancer. Born November 6, 1945 in Canora, Saskatchewan, Irene is predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Popoff; sister Ann and son Trent Douglas Lyons. Irene will be eternally remembered by her loving husband Robert of 49 years; children Trevor, Tamara, Amber; grandchildren Brianna, Jordan, Caitlin and Samantha; brother Nick (Annette), sister Pearl (Larry) and numerous extended family and friends. Family and friends were infinitely important to Irene and is where she drew her strength and leaves her legacy. Spending her days in the sun puttering around the yard and garden is where she found a found a beautiful tranquility in nature and life. Working at Columbia Elementary School and the Good Spirit School Division for 32 years, Irene enriched the lives of numerous students and teachers alike. Walking hand in hand, laughing and sharing stories she embraced all of them with the love of a family. The funeral service was held on Saturday, December 17th 2016 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Doreen Day, CFC, officiated. Special musi was provided by Topher Mills. The urnbearer was Trevor Lyons. The interment will take place in the Prairieview Columbarium. A reception followed in the Family Centre Reception Room.
