Obituary of Sophie Sauchuk
With heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Sophie Sauchuk on February 10th at the Roblin Hospital at the age of 100. Sophie was born to Fred and Polly Puritch on October 22, 1916 at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She met John Sauchuk and were married on November 7, 1943 at MacNutt, Saskatchewan. Because of John's job working with School Units they lived in various communities including Foam Lake, Wadena and Williams Lake, BC. Sophie worked as a clerk in a dress shop in Wadena for 11 years. In Williams Lake she worked for a furniture store for 16 years. While living there her and John joined a rock club and became avid rock hounds, collecting precious stones and also had a love for antiques. In 1974, John and Sophie both retired and moved back to Yorkton. Sophie lived life to the fullest enjoying many activities, playing cards, bingo, travelling, visiting and going out with friends. Sophie was a faithful member of the 50 and over Club and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Sophie was predeceased by her husband John, her parents Fred and Polly Puritch; brothers, John, Mike, Bill and Nick; sisters Rose, Mary, Helen, Doris and Betty. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Bella Pronyk, sisters-in-law Elsie Puritch and Betty Puritch; nieces, nephews, extended families as well as a host of friends. Service Information
