Obituary of Sophie Rodych
Mrs. Sophie (Krywulak) Rodych, beloved wife of the late Mike Rodych, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017. It is with saddened hearts that we mourn the death of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. At the time of her passing, she had just celebrated her 90th birthday. To cherish her memory, Sophie leaves behind her children: Doreen (Emil) Sereda, Ted (Donna) Rodych, and Christine (Leon) Froess; her grandchildren: Kevin (Tracy) Sereda, Kelly (Joy) Sereda, Trent (Nicole) Sereda, Kyle (Angela) Sereda, and Amanda (Curtis) Knihnitski, Stefanie (Dane) McKinley, Courtney, Candice, and Kendra Froess; and her great-grandchildren: Koby, Carson, Aiden, Maryssa, Tanner, Josie, Halle, and Jazmine Sereda, Peyton and Aubrey Knihnitski, and Adelynn McKinley. She also leaves behind her siblings: John (Hazel) Krywulak, Mary Byblow, Rose (Dan) McLean, William (Sylvia) Krywulak, and Olga Kozun, and her sisters-in-law Jean Krywulak and Mary Rodych, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Mike, her grandson Kim Sereda, her parents John and Katie Krywulak, her siblings Eva, Metro, Mabel and Peter and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.Sophie was born and raised in the Beckenham District. She married Mike Rodych on November 5, 1944. Mike and Sophie farmed at Beckenham until 1971 when they moved to Yorkton, SK. Sophie resided in Yorkton until September 2016, and spent her final months in Gateway Lodge in Canora, Saskatchewan. Sophie was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League and the Blue Army. She was an excellent cook. Her biggest joy in life was her family, who will miss her deeply. Prayers were held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The Holy Rosary led by members of UCWLC preceded the prayers. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Very Rev. Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. and Rev. Father Methodius Kushko, C.Ss.R. concelebrating. The cross bearer was Kendra Froess and the epistle readers were Amanda Knihnitski & Candace Froess. The interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Kevin Sereda, Kelly Sereda, Stefanie McKinley, Courtney Froess, Trent Sereda and Kyle Sereda serving as the casket bearers. Memorials in memory of Sophie may be made to St. Mary's Church as gifts of remembrance. Service Information
