Obituary of Bryan Bozek
Bryan was one of eight siblings and third youngest born to Frank and Eva (nee Lisowski) Bozek. He attended elementary at Royal Rock School and at the age of 17 began working on neighbouring farms, stooking and helping with the threshing. In 1943 he went to Winnipeg to seek employment. Bryan worked for United Garments for a time, Artic Ice and a few other jobs. He had to leave because he was registered as a farm laborer. In 1944 he left for home to recover after an appendix surgery. Bryan was called to the army in February of 1945 and remained in Fort Osborne for a few months. Later he transferred to Fort Garry for basic training. Following his basic training he was sent to Petawawa for advance training. When the war ended Bryan was sent west to Medicine Hat to guard German prisoners. In spring he applied for a discharge and in June 1946 was granted his discharge. In 1948 Bryan began farming with his brother Julius. Bryan married Helen Sopel in 1958 and were blessed with two children, Sharon and Larry. He farmed until 1995 when he sold his land and moved to Yorkton, where he met his future companion Doreen at a dance at St. Gerard's Hall. This meeting developed into a loving relationship that continued until the present time. His family became larger as he inherited Doreen's family as well. They both enjoyed many trips to family gatherings to Ontario, Alberta, England and even a trip to Ukraine. Bryan entered eternal life on May 11, 2017 at Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 5 days short of his 91st birthday. Bryan was predeceased by his parents, brothers Mike, Julius, John and his sisters Josie, Ester and Jean. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving companion Doreen, his children, daughters, Sharon and Claudette, son Larry, sister Mary, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and gido's great grandchildren.
