Obituary of Dennis Lay

Dennis Norman Lay was born on December 14, 1940 at Loon Lake, Saskatchewan to Oscar and Anne (nee Fern) Lay. Dennis received his elementary schooling in Golden Ridge, Saskatchewan and completed his high School at Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. Dennis started his employment with Sask Power and then became employed with Sask Energy working with this company for 40 years. Dennis was united in marriage to Sharon Benjestorf on June 10, 1963 and resided in Fenwood then moved into Melville. After retiring in 1999 Dennis and Sharon moved to Cold Lake, Alberta. Dennis was very involved and spending many countless hours in the building of the Fenwood Rink. He enjoyed looking at old cars, fishing, boating, travelling, building and fixing things. In his 50's Dennis took up speed skating winning the provincial's in his age category. His most enjoyment was spending time with his wife, teaching his children to skate, play ball, water ski, skiing and with his grandchildren he would show them new interesting things. Dennis entered his eternal rest on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Cold Lake at the age of 76 years. Predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Anne; his son Lyndon June 1, 2017; his brother, Donald and his sister, Diane Hossack. Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Sharon of Cold Lake, AB; his daughter, Leanne (Duncan) Chambers of Kelowna, BC and their children, Dawson, Logan and Chloe; and his daughter, Crystal (Nathan) Flanders of Cold Lake, AB and their children, Annabelle and Barrett; daughter-in-law, Rachel Lay of Iron River, AB; his brother Duane (Bernadette); his sisters, Louise Pelling and Audrey Graham; Dennis is also survived by a special aunt and uncle, Joyce and Dave Fern; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
