Obituary of Kathleen Joyce Miller
Kathleen (Kay) Joyce Miller was born December 30, 1928 daughter to Isaac and Maria Friesen in Winnipeg, MB. Kathleen passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday August 10, 2017 to join the love of her life her husband, Charles "Charlie" Miller who took a huge piece of her heart with him when he passed away November 26, 2016. Kay attended school in Melville. She then worked at several jobs but she took the most pride in her job at the Quick Freeze where she was given management responsibilities. She served people in the community for many years and became well known. On February 21, 1949 Kathleen was united in marriage to Charlie Miller where they resided in Melville and were blessed with one son. Kathleen along side with her husband kept very busy raising their son and caring for their grandchildren like their own. Kathleen is remembered for her kindness to others and devotion to family and friends. In her spare time Kathleen enjoyed spending time at the lake, gardening, knitting, crochet, canning and baking. When the grandchildren came to visit they always left with a plate of goodies. Her door was always open. Company was something she always enjoyed and cherished in her life. There was always some type of refreshment she would offer whether you stopped in to say hi, spent the evening playing cards or came over to enjoy some good old live music. Her hospitality was warm and generous and she always went above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Kathleen is survived by her son Lorne (Lorie Antony) Miller, grandchildren; Christopher Miller, Jacqueline (Carl) Wionzek, Chuck Miller, Tina (Chris) Vanderhaeghe, Tammy (Jason) Watt, Mark Woods, as well as many great grandchildren ("the babies' as she would say), brother George (Maxine) Friesen, sister Alice Friesen, in-laws; Archie (Marlene) Miller, Alice Sparks, Leona Friesen and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie Miller whom she was married to for 67 years, parents Isaac and Maria Friesen, and her bothers Bruce and Harvey Friesen. May your wonderful spirit be reunited with your loving husband, Charlie. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Melville with Ray Yost officiating.
