Bill Anaka Feb. 6, 1932 - October 20, 2017 Bill finally got his wish! A resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home and prior to that the Esterhazy Centennial Care Home for a total of more than three years, he longed for the day when he could be "free". His wish came true in the early morning hours of October 20, 2017. Bill was born to Harry and Mary (nee Kobylka) Anaka. He grew up and attended school at Black Poplar in the Good Spirit Lake area, later obtaining his high school degree by taking night classes at the Regional in Yorkton. From childhood, an avid outdoor person who enjoyed bird banding, nature photography and record keeping of his bird sightings over the years. He built and maintained for many years a 200 box Bluebird Trail west of Good Spirit. A member of a number of nature and environmental organizations, he enjoyed taking part in many outings. And his farm that he later donated to the Nature Conservancy gave him many hours of pleasure as did his garden. In 2003, Bill also co-authored a book called "Birds of Yorkton and Duck Mountain". He worked for many years at Good Spirit Provincial Park where he made a number of life - long friends. Married to Joyce (Gunn) Anaka they made their home within the Park. Bill was predeceased by his parents and infant sister. He is survived by his wife Joyce of Yorkton, his sister Donna (Terry) Kotyk of Saskatoon, his sister Iris (Ed) Grimm of Stoney Creek, Ontario and his niece Laura Young and her family of Saskatoon. Also his nephews, Darryl Kotyk and his family of Courtney, BC and Trevor Grimm of Stoney Creek. At Bill's request there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers or sympathy cards just toast a life well lived and rejoice in his "freedom".
