Obituary of Effie Jamieson
Mary E. "Effie" Jamieson passed away peacefully at home on December 29th, 2017 at the age of 100 years. Born in Rokeby, SK on April 23, 1917, Effie was one of five children born to John and Caroline Dean. Effie was predeceased by her parents and four siblings, her husband George in June 1998 and her son Dean in November 2017. She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate her life her son Brian Jamieson (Donna) of Ladysmith BC, daughter-in-law Jane Jamieson of Miramichi NB, and her "special" niece Dianne Holfeld (Randy) of Yorkton, SK. In addition Effie was especially proud of her five grandchildren: Jeff Jamieson (Elle) of Calgary, AB; Carrie Jamieson of Saskatoon, SK; Cheryl Hilborn (Patrick) of Ottawa, ON; Brenda Jamieson (Kevin) of Ottawa, ON; and Michael Jamieson (Heather) of Ottawa ON. Effie was also very proud to have graduated from Grandma to "Nana" to five Great Grandchildren: Jenna, Evan, Ashley, Teagan and Hadley. As Effie's father managed Co-op Creameries she grew up in a number of different towns in Saskatchewan. She began her education in Yorkton, continuing in Foam Lake, Unity, Tisdale and graduating in Swift Current. After graduation Effie returned to Yorkton and married George Jamieson in 1938 and together they raised two sons, Dean and Brian. For 26 years Effie worked for the City of Yorkton as secretary to three different mayors. Known for her quick wit and "feisty" attitude, Effie will be sadly missed by all who knew her. In accordance with Effie's wishes there will be no service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
