Sisters-in-laws: Irene Lantz (Edmonton), Edna Perepeluk (Yorkton), Elsie Perpeluk (Wroxton), Agnes Gawryliuk (Yorkton), many cousins, nieces and nephews and her best friend Delores Kowalchuk and family. She is predeceased by husband Willie in 2010, her parents; John and Ann Anthony (nee Shewchuk), brothers and sister-in-law; Bill and Olga, Mike, Johnny, Jimmy and infant sister Elsie. Mary was born May 11, 1928, daughter to John and Annie Anthony (nee Shewchuk) on the farm near MacNutt, Sask. and attended Clova Scholl #806. She along with her brothers helped with the livestock and grain farming. On October 24, 1948, Mary chose to marry William Perpeluk in Calder at St. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church. They farmed north of Wroxton but moved to the town of Wroxton until 1966. Here they raised three children, Mary had a large garden, was an accomplished seamstress, and loved to make clothes for her children and pajamas for nieces and nephews at Christmas. She loved making things, and just about all of us have a sample of her arts and crafts which we will appreciate more. She was an avid volunteer in church, school and community and taught 4-H sewing in Wroxton. She was also an active curler. She loved to plan and celebrate special and any occasions, Christmas, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and holidays with friends and relatives. She liked to plan ahead. She loved to take lots of pictures, but take two in case one doesn't turn out, and she hated pictures that didn't include your feet. When Willie got a job with Melville School Unit they moved the family to Melville where she gained employment as a caretaker at the Provincial building and St. Pauls Nursing Home. When they moved to Yorkton she worked at the Hatchery, Harvest Meats, and Yorkton Nursing Home. In retirement Mary & Willie loved to travel and spend time at their Arizona home. One highlight in her life would have been the trip to Ukraine. She liked fishing and camping. She enjoyed entertaining and having "happy hour" with friends, playing cards, playing bingo and going to the casino, even with her wheel chair and oxygen. Along with Willy's membership with the Yorkton Elks Lodge, Mary became an active member of the Royal Purple. She is also a member of River Ridge Fish & Game, in Canora. Mary was a numbers person, when she made perogies she would make us count them, when she played cards she would bring out rolls of pennies and when it came to cribbage, she only played for money (loonie a game) and liked to win. As a Mom and Baba she was the reliable target to buy our school magazines or chocolates for fund raising. With Mary and Willie the happiness and success of their family was number one priority. She made it to just about every birthday, graduation, wedding or special event of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and lived with energetic enthusiasm, a generous respectful strong willed woman who had life long friends. When you came to her door or say goodbye - it was always "give me a hug". She will be missed by all that loved her. Service Information Thursday, January 18th, 2018 7:00pm Friday, January 19th, 2018 10:00am Interment Details St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Cemetery
