Obituary of John Augustine Kozak
KOZAK - Mr. John Kozak of Ituna passed away peacefully on February 27, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville at the age of 91 years. John was born on August 25, 1926 to Onufrey and Anna (Kohut) Kozak in the Tullymet district near Ituna. He attended File Hills School, receiving his Grade VIII standing. He worked briefly with Mason Brothers Construction in Ituna. He decided to farm with his parents raising cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys. He loved growing wheat and he did every year since 1928. Dad loved to hunt, trap, cut wood, read and socialize with neighbours, friends and family. He was meticulous at keeping farm records and a daily diary for the last 32 years. He cherished his dogs and cats and always made sure they were well fed. Every winter he would feed all the birds in the yard with suet and seeds. In later years his passion was his four grandchildren. He always wanted to know what they were doing and was at his happiest when they were around him. John was united in marriage to Stella Kohuch on July 12, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Ituna. Together they raised two sons Danny and Wayne and continued to farm until his beloved wife Stella passed away in 1985. Dad continued to live on the farm and help his son Danny until he moved to St. Ann's Care Home in Ituna in 2010 where he enjoyed playing cards, singing and socializing. This was his home until he moved to the Ituna Pioneer Lodge in 2017. John leaves to cherish his memory his son Danny (Barb) and their children Kimberley (Mitch) Stefan and great grandson Huckson John and Kent (friend Brooklyn) Kozak; son Wayne (Pat) and their daughters Jenna - Wade Kozak and Danielle - Dawn Kozak; sister Eva Yaworsky, brother-in-law Reg Riddle of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Nettie Kohuch of Regina and numerous nieces and nephews.
