On behalf of the Piasta family, I would like to convey our deepest sympathies to the Mathuik family on the passing of Mrs. Mathuik as well as her son Jerry. She was an incredibly kind woman with a fierce nature (when pushed) typical of our Ukrainian heritage. I remember a kind, generous, mild-mannnered, cultured, and laughing (I can still hear her voice and laugh) woman who was a great friend, supporter, and advocate for our family. She worked tirelessly and with great energy in the Ukrainian community for the Kalyna Ukrainian Dance Club and for the Yorkton Ukrainian community in general. We have lost a great friend and champion. She will be greatly missed. We join with the Mathuik family in mourning and prayer for the blessed repose or her soul. May her soul find rest and peace with the Father and her body be gently cradled in her native prairie soil.
