Obituary of Delbert Victor Crow
Delbert Crow passed away October 27, 2018 in Yorkton, SK at age of 62 years, following a brief stay at the Country Meadow unit in the Yorkton & District Nursing Home.
Delbert Victor Crow was born May 19, 1956 to Leon and Elizabeth (Lemaire) Crow in Melville, Sk at St. Peter's Hospital, Melville, SK. He was a twin to his sister, Denise. He often commented about having two birthday cakes at their birthday celebrations; "they were good"!
Del lived a simple life with family and friend relationships being most important to him.
Del had a gentle, kind, and polite manner about him. He always said please and thank you, especially for any meal. Del loved food, and it seemed like his stomach was a bottomless pit! He had a sweet tooth with his mother's homemade cookies being his favourite treat. He had a genuine interest in and concern for others, especially his mother, Betty Crow, whom he dearly loved. He also had a great sense of humour often taking others by surprise!
Del cherished his close community of friends at "The Rail" - Rail City where he spent most of his working life. He also enjoyed visiting with many residents and staff at St. Paul's Lutheran Home where he attended the Adult Day Wellness Program. He worked at the King George Hotel, the Legion and Petrachuks for short spells, and he had short work periods in Saskatoon and Rosetown, too. When the Agri-Park had events, he enjoyed working there and talking to everyone he would meet.
Del grew up on the family farm and always looked forward to any opportunity to visit at his brother Doug's or the Bisch/Kraushaar farms. He loved nature and the outdoors so enjoyed camping or just going to the lake.
He was kind of an old soul who loved old time music, old television programs like the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie, and enjoyed looking through old family photos. Watching movies and going to the Mil's hockey games were two of Delbert's favourite past times.
Del was a positive, optimistic gentleman who was appreciative of anything that he received from others and the outings that he took. His humility and courtesy inspires us all.
He was predeceased by his father Leon, grandparents Albert and Ruth Crow, and Victor and Rose Lemaire. Left to grieve his passing are his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Crow, sisters Denise Nelson (Kelly) and Leona Bisch (Bill), brother Doug Crow (Danette), and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
The Crow family extends sincere gratitude to the many special people in Del's life as well as the caregivers with whom he engaged. We especially appreciate the healthcare personnel at Yorkton and District Nursing Care Home for their compassionate care at the end of Delbert's life.
